I meant figurative horns

I was pretty ticked that day and as I painted my mother-in-law's bathroom, I thought about how I'd put my anger into words. Of course we need to question the facts. We're being bombarded with facts these days and we need to realize that oftentimes news stories may have a hidden agenda or bias. When we have several different sources corroborating the information we're receiving, then there's a much greater probability that the story being reported is accurate.

By the way, I did a search after I wrote this post and found that there are quite a few people out there that seriously believe SP is the Antichrist. I don't. The internet is an interesting place.

I also believe in the Founding Fathers and have written about them in a couple recent posts. I've been watching the HBO series John Adams and think it's important for Americans to revisit the founding of this country. Thomas Jefferson would be viewed as a Libertarian today; he believed in almost no governmental involvement, which isn't always practical if you want to administer roads and highways and railways and stuff like that.

The Constitution is what defines our society and the Founding Fathers would probably shake their heads at its erosion (Patriot Act). I love this quote and I'll use it again.

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Benjamin Franklin

Read what they are not saying

Are we so quick to judge when we know how the political agenda is played this time of the year? Are we not all women who are not supporting another woman based on what the basis media has to say? I am not saying that I agree with everything that she is saying; however I cannot believe that there is a great mass of women out here and thinking that Palin is some devil? I find it very hard to believe {Facts} which I do believe is going to be hard to prove or disprove again due to the timing to the election. I can say, that the same thing about the other party as well. The media seems to feed us one way or the other every time election season. A good friend of mine told you have to read what they are not saying, and hidden within all those articles that are sometimes basis is the truth.

Maybe I am just old fashion for a young person. I strongly believe in our Founding Fathers and what they had to go through to make this Nation. I believe we have to pick our battles, and I believe that just as our Founding Father wrote “Now before the Declaration of Independence Congress directed states to devise new republican governments to replace the provincial congresses and committees that had met since 1774. Thus American men initially concentrated on drafting state constitutions and devoted little attention to their national government- At the states level, they immediately faced the problem of defining a "CONSTITUTION". Americans wanted to create tangible documents specifying the FUNDAMENTAL STUCTURES OF GOVERNMENT. The farmers of state constitutions concerned themselves primarily with outlining the distribution of and limitations on GOVERNMENT POWER--Authority was improperly distributed among the branches of government...or not confined within reasonable limits, the states might become just what they fought against and then they would have had Britain again"

I adore his work, both as a humanitarian and an actor. Of course, it is his humanitarianism that I most admire. I won't say he's also easy on the eyes, because that would be sexist.

Does seeing Russia on TV count as experience?

Does seeing Russia on TV and speaking to people from other countries count as experience? We actually have a Russian section of Los Angeles and have even driven through it. Just wondering, because if it does, then I guess I'm qualified too.

Palin scares the jesus out of me

Eeek. She scares me, she really does. My friend Marian lives up in Alaska and says she is WORSE than we think. The whole making the woman pay for the rape kit thing is beyond evil.

So how come the media isn't whacking her and hunk husband Todd over the whole kooky Alaska Independence Party stuff? The founder was a loon, and ended up blowing himself up with plastic explosives. His comments are still part of the mantra on their web page. Hubby was a member of the party till 2000. Creepy.

I hope she implodes. Who would a thunk it could get worse than W?

Very scary stuff

This is all very scary stuff. It's strange, I keep hearing people talk and it seems that they're really only concerned about what's in their wallets. The economy has affected me big-time, but there are maybe more serious issues like fighting two wars at once.
Not that I'm not concerned about the economy. A McCain/Palin presidency would most certainly sink us further into debt, but I'm sure those in the top earning tier will continue to prosper.

Drafting Women Too?

Maybe that would be the time to draft both men and women. If Sarah can do it all, I guess all of us girls can do it all, too.

Bringing back the Draft?

Well, if we were to go into Georgia, we would have to bring back the draft. Because we don't have the troops to engage in Georgia. Or the funds.

So, if you have a son, or brother, or husband between the ages of 18 and 44, know that a vote for Palin would be a vote for sending your loved one to war. Congrats!

Matt Damon and Dinosaurs

I saw the interview--and his concern was palpable, and not in an acting way, in a real person way. I loved that he said he needs to know if she really thinks dinosaurs roamed the earth 6,000 years ago. My goodness, there are so many negatives to this woman it is scary. But since she is enlivening the base, they won't pull her off the ticket, as so many of us hoped. Maybe this is our wakeup call that politics do matter.

Your words remind me of that Twilight Episode, "It was good that you wished him into the cornfield. It was real good." I've thought about that episode a bit lately.
On CNN a little while ago, some journalists were discussing the Charlie Gibson interview and one of them (I think it was Jeffrey Toobin) quoted Mark Twain's line about a lie can travel halfway across the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.
Let's hope people can separate the truth from the lies and care enough to know the difference.

Why I Think Sarah Palin is the Antichrist

Why I think Sarah Palin is the Antichrist

Under that updo, I'm pretty sure you'll find horns, or at least 666 tatooed onto the back of her head.

This woman scares the estrogen out of me. Last night's interview with Charlie Gibson was chilling. A McCain/Palin presidency will most certainly keep us on an upward war trajectory. Her talk about Georgia joining NATO and a possible war against Russia coupled with her lack of understanding of the Bush Doctrine of preemptive attack is alarming, to say the least. If it walks like a hawk and quacks like a hawk, it's a hawk. And if you put liptstick on a pitbull, it's still a pitbull. (Excuse my intentional mixing of animal metaphors.)

My son is 11 years old. Will he be drafted in 7 years?

And Palin is no friend of women. This morning I read a little article on the back page of the Los Angeles Times about women being charged for rape kits in Wasilla during the four years Palin was mayor. This was a unique occurrence in Alaska, one that prompted the legislators to actually pass a law so that women would not have to be victimized a second time by paying $300 to $1,200 for the rape exam kit. (This was after the police department refused to stop charging, citing economics.) Palin was in charge. She could have taken this issue on and done the right thing, but she didn't.

This leads me to conclude that Wasilla is a backward town, with a backward mayor. Surely she isn't sophisticated enough to be the second in command of the most powerful nation on earth. To punish the victim a second time is abhorrent beyond words. How many rapes went unreported because the women couldn't afford to pay for the exam? What message was she sending to the women of the town? I'm not making this up, people.

Now, Sarah is a religious woman and so am I. She doesn't have a special channel to the Big Guy. Those of us who don't consider ourselves religious extremists deserve the right to be heard. So, God, if you're listening, and I know you are, please, I pray, save us from this Slim Pickens in drag riding bareback on the bomb.

(I can write this because we still have our right to free speech under the First Amendment to the Constitution. If Palin/McCain take office, we may not.)

One final note to those of you who think the office of the Vice President doesn't matter, according to Kids Discover magazine, the latest issue on the Presidency told me that 9 of our Vice Presidents have had to take over for the sitting President. According to my rudimentary math skills, that's almost a quarter of all Presidents.
