Palin and Gore Comparison

Who says the Republican campaign is holding Sarah back? Does anyone remember how very little we saw Al Gore when Clinton was campaigning? I'll tell you the answer...about the same as Palin. I also do not remember anyone being too upset about that fact either. My how times have changed!

We the people have the right

We the People have the right to get to know candidates for elected office. We have the right to listen to them answer questions about all the issues that we care about.

We have this right so that we can make the most informed choice, since that choice will impact every aspect of our lives, from environmental challenges to how much we spend on groceries, gas and healthcare, whether we can retire at 60 or 70.

We have a right to "vet" the candidates.

This scenario of only showing photo ops, limited interviews with carefully selected journalists is chillingly similar to how dictatorships and totalitarian governments control the press. Can you say "propaganda?"

The founding fathers must be watching with profound interest, to see if the work they did over 200 years ago will be unraveled by a few power hungry people who will do and say anything to get elected, no matter what the cost to our democracy.

End Sexism of Palin: Free Sarah Palin

Huffington Post links to a video of CNN's Campbell Brown has called on the McCain campaign to end their sexist treatment of Sarah Palin, and to "free Sarah Palin".

This following yesterday's embarrassing fiasco when the campaign was so terrified that Palin may be asked a question from reporters that they almost missed their photo ops showing Palin with world leaders.

The McCain campaign's control of access to Palin from officials in Alaska investigating "Troopergate" contradicts Palin's earlier statements that she would welcome the investigation, and also follows on the Campaign staff's demands for a more formal debate format with Biden, because of Palin's lack of experience.

The Democrats have been accused of sexism in regards to Sarah Palin, but from my viewpoint, most of the worst of the sexism is coming from the McCain camp. Though Sarah Palin hasn't been forced to wear veil or walk two steps behind McCain, the treatment of her and her isolation from the world is strongly reminiscent of behavior towards women in societies where women are expected to be seen, but not heard.

As a woman, I am outraged at such behavior.
