Nearest Starbucks is about 20 minutes away and not in the direction of my typical route. Can't justify the drive in this economy.

I think I'm over the addiction. Although I get jittery just thinking about one. Like right now. OK, I'm just in denial. Crap. Maybe I can buy the fixings and try to make one myself?!

Going without

We cut back on our Starbucks trips a couple of years ago - we went to going once a day to going only on M-W-F (or on extra special, extra stressful occasions.)

It hasn't been easy to stick to the revised schedule, but we've done it (mostly.)

I think we should cut back some more... but I don't have the willpower!

Have you ever tried to make the PSL at home? Should be cheaper than going to the store.

Miss my psl

I'll be skipping my pumpkin spice latte this season. I'm staying away from starbucks (going on 2 months now) because it's really not in our budget. But if it was, I'd be there tomorrow morning. I could afford to have one per month, but that's the problem... if I have one, it's going to make me want another, and another....

How far away is your closest Starbucks now that they closed your store??? Should I be worried about your emotional health now that you cannot easily get your PSL fix?

Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice?

Hmmm. Interesting. I believe I got some pumpkin spice beans from Jittery Joes once. Hmm or maybe it wasn't Jittery Joes and was somewhere else? So many coffee shops, they all run together after awhile.

Tweaking the homemade recipe

kim at btwixt and btween: I used to be a coffee house junkie (Caribou or the coffee cart in my old office complex -- best iced lattes on the planet are in the lobby of Kincaid's in Bloomington, MN!). Now, I swear by my Tassimo machine at home. So I had to experiment with the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe and had the first batch from my Tassimo this morning... yum! Definitely going to keep toying with the vanilla syrup v. vanilla and sugar... And adding nutmeg. Thanks for the nutmeg tip, Susan.

I blog at www.btwixtandbtween.typepad.com.

totally addicted

My name is Ashlie, and I am a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte addict. My addiction started last fall and continued throughout the winter and early spring. I went through withdrawals when they discontinued it, dubbing it "seasonal". Cha. I was bitter b/c they re-packaged the Peppermint/Christmas Latte as a Leprechaun in March. Seriously?!

Anyhow, had my first of the season while at the Las Vegas CC for Blog World Expo. It. Was. Heavenly!

Unfortunately, I came home to the shock and awe that they closed the only Starbucks in town. We have 4 Dunkins nearby, but they are definitely a white trash verson. NOT the same, I swear!

I can't wait to check out other addicts. We should form a support group!

I blog here: http://www.mommycosm.com

I admit it: that is the only reason I will actually go to Starbucks in the fall just to get my fill of crack... I mean, pumpkin spice latte. Then again, I'm all about anything pumpkin during the fall season.

Now I think I need to get one today. :)

When the eggnog latte comes in season, someone else will have to blog that (maybe a month of eggnog?) I'd rather drink the PSL than the eggnog latte.

My 18 year old is a fan of the BIG Gingerbread Latte.

Yes the PSL is the bomb as is the eggnog and gingerbread latte. And for the record the nutmeg is the crack. UMMMMM Grande Pumpkin Spice Whole Milk Lattee with extra foam and nutmeg.

Was addicted to these (eggnog) for a while several years ago.

Have since broken addiction.

Have to stay far away from Starbucks during this season . . . or only take enough cash for their brewed coffee.

I didn't try the pumpkin. Figured I had enough of a problem with the eggnog!

The Pumpkin Spice Latte

Yesterday I shared the breaking news about people who actually LIKE cooler weather and today I've got some more shocking news to share. There are real live funny smart people who do not order a Quad Grande Nonfat Caramel Macchiato when they go to Starbucks in the fall. Those people seem to love, love, love the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I am not one of those people. I prefer to eat my pumpkin pie, not drink it. But, this isn't about me... it's about them... about those people...

Meg is one of those people. Joggermom appears to be one of them. Points and Pounds is also a fan. And Lula. But these women, they are not in the same league with my dear friend, colleague, and Sleep is for the Weak contributor, Jenny from Three Kid Circus. She's got them all beat and this is one of my favorite posts.

My name is Jenny, and it has been four days since my last Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Seriously, do they put crack in those? Because I have a truly out-of-proportion longing to get another one, and I'm not a frou-frou coffee drinking person

There are so many fans of the PSL that the blogs and websites with recipes for it go on for pages and pages and pages in a google search. Who knew there were so many ways to make that little drink? I did! And I'll share a few with you so that you may get your PSL crack at home.

The PSL was so popular in 2004 that Starbucks sales grew by 11% (I actually knew this because of an economics project Michelle did about Starbucks and I've had this link all this time because of that project.) The Starbucks Gossip Blog folks were nice enough to include a recipe from recipe circus along with this tidbit of economics info.

Because one recipe was not enough,Baking and Books provides you with a decadent and an, I don't know... non decadent version?

When your nearest Starbucks is 60 miles away, you are forced to make your own. Imagine that, 60 miles away from a Starbucks. That scares me.

Here's a little secret.... According to Pumpkin Rots, the Dunkin Donuts version tastes similar and is cheaper than Starbucks'. Every penny counts (and with what you save, you can make a donation to the DonorsChoose Blogger Challenge!)

Confess your PSL addication, if you like. (Or come sit next to me, if you aren't a fan. I'll keep you safe, I've had practice since I live with someone who is a PSL fan.)
