I am handing over my iRiver to TW to use during the session but if you're going to podcast this, I will feel better (a little better because Susie Bright in doggone person is something I really am unhappy about missing).

I'm trying to come up with good questions to send along with TW, too. Susie Bright, Lisa. SUSIE BRIGHT is awesome. Heh. I'm nuts, I know and I apologize.

This is the ONE session I really NEEDED to attend and what happened? It was scheduled opposite my panel. Argh! My s/o had better record it for me. I've been looking forward to Susie Bright, in person, for months!

Blogher '06 Session Discussion: Let's Talk About Sex on Day Two

18th in our series introducing you to each of our BlogHer Conference '06 sessions and their speakers, and finding out what you would like to get from each session. Today, I bring you from Day Two:

Let's Talk About Sex: Join Susie Bright, Melissa Gira, Logan Levkoff, Halley Suitt, and other blogging woman who prove: when it comes to talking sex online, women don't just like to watch!

We've got four women on board for this panel who have been out there online talking about sex for a long time and have a lot to say about it!

[img_assist|fid=813|thumb=1|alt=Melissa Gira] Melissa Gira has a historical perspective on blogging about sex. She's been doing it since 1999 (and yes, that counts as historical when it comes to blogging.) Back then blogs weren't segmented like they are today; everyone was just blogging. Today with tagging, whether via taxonomies or folksonomies, blogs can be relegated to their respective corners. Melissa always wondered why so many people weren't blogging about sex...since she presumed most of them were actually having it as some point. And she also knows that plenty of people read her blog who would never include it in their Bloglines account for all to see. So, what are your secret sex blogs?

[img_assist|fid=817|thumb=1|alt=Susie Bright] Susie Bright is a longtime writer about sex, erotica and sexual politics. It was always part of Susie's identity that she wrote about sex. To Susie "naked" blogging is just what she does...she doesn't have to thik about it much. Compared to Melissa she's fairly new to sex blogging though! While the blogosphere provides an opportunity for self-publishing about all topics to explode, writing about sex, especially as a woman, is far from mainstream. In fact, it still seems taboo? Why? And what happens when Susie would rather write about the lasagna she made for dinner than the orgasm she had later that night? Is there room for that with her audience? Does the best sex blogging include the whole of our lives? Can the every day be sexy?

[img_assist|fid=821|thumb=1|alt=Logan Levkoff] Logan Levkoff is a sex educator who recently started a MySpace blog sponsored by Elexa by Trojan condoms. She believes sex is missing from the public discussion, and online is about the only place people can go to get information...if only more of it was accurate and helpful and woman-oriented! As a new mom, she has also noted how the discussions change around sex once motherhood comes into the picture. Which is sort of ironic considering what it typically takes to become a mother in the first place! She believes women have a responsibility to talk about it, to share with one another, to be more proactive and vocal about issues of sexual health, responsibility, and yes, pleasure.

[img_assist|fid=825|thumb=1|alt=Halley Suitt] Halley Suitt has written erotica on the same blog where she writes about blogging, business and everything else. Which freaks some people out. But you can count on those posts being the most viewed, the most linked to...even by the infamous "A-List." But to take up Logan's call for women to talk about sex more openly, Halley too believes that women need to speak the truth...about sex too. And Halley believes that is what women are good at. So, do women blog about sex differently, even better, than men?

Our four panelists will explore those perspectives, those questions and hopefully get all of you actively engaged in a discussion about sex and writing about sex.

So, that's what we are envisioning for the session. But what do you think. What do you want to learn? What do you want to hear? What do you never want to hear again? What would make you attend this session?
