I am a fan of YouTube..

I am a fan of YouTube, and watched Brooker's goodbye video.. which was impressive. Then I tried to figure out the deal with the company she was working with before Daly... and just dropped the whole thing. (who needs other people's drama?)

I am thrilled that amateur videographers can get seen in this kind of venue. I love that individuals with limited equipment can demo things like knitting. And I'll admit I'm still slightly obsessed with SPIN and intrigued with My PC.

DON'T forget the "Cute"

Because, ummm... Karen? You are CUTE. With two syllables. CUH-YUTE.

I love the idea of finding new talent in places like this. Before this, we may wonder, we left it up to the arbitrary talent scout to find people. You Tube and blogs and vlogs have given us a wider array from which to choose.

There is a mighty talent pool out there. It even has a deep end.

A (YouTube) Star is Born!

YouTube is becoming quite the phenomenon among all age groups. Carson Daly recently took notice of 20 year old YouTuber Brooke "Brookers" Brodack and signed her for an 18 month overall programming development deal, after viewing her spoof of the Numa Numa kid on YouTube.

"I thought there was something extremely charismatic about this girl," Daly said. "Her directing, her use of music — it was very MTV to me."

Although YouTube has become a favorite hobby for some people, I doubt this will be the last we see of these Hollywood discoveries. Actually, I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. Seems turning your hobby into a career is on the minds of other YouTubers, as some of them are scrambling to put together noteworthy videos after Brooke's news broke in June.

My fellow Canucklehead, Marmalade.ca said it best:

This is what I love about the internet, blogging and file sharing services like YouTube. It gives the not-so-average everyday person a chance to express themselves, and give them lots of unique opportunities. There are knitbloggers out there writing books, reviewing books, movies and and concerts for the mass media, all because someone in a marketing department somewhere found them and thought they would be a good match for their company.

I just think its super-fantastique!

Best of luck Brookers!

(I've watched all her videos and can say I'm a fan. She kind of reminds me of me at 20, all goofy and cute. Now? Yeah, I'm just goofy.)
