And it looks like there will be at least 4 men there. I don't hate men. I don't want a world without men. I just would love one weekend for women, that's all. I think the all-woman vibe is a cool thing.

I have heard some comments about why some women would be reluctant to go to BlogHer and none of them have anything to do with the possibility of a man's appearance. Personally I haven't heard of any other men who are considering attending; Neil is the first. (I will admit I don't have a huge contact list but still I haven't heard of any.)

I believe that technology and the web is a community and our community involves men. I also believe that we have the opportunity to demystify our roles as women and as feminists. I don't like to see "exclusivity" because we then become guilty of the same thing we accuse men of doing; limiting opportunities for collaboration and creativity.

I discussed this with my surrogate mother who is 62 and she admitted "There was a time when women needed a place for themselves because, we just didn't have anywhere and anything else of our own."
She also added; "the feminists movement must evolve into an inclusive community that shares power, invites and encourages creative solutions with men - so we don't turn into the female version of what we stand against."

I thank you for your comments because I do appreciate all of them.
And yes, "all skate" was great.

I wrote a post about this on Red Stapler on June 5.

I just don't understand why we are even going to bother to call it BlogHer if it is an all skate. I'm willing to bet Neil is very nice. He probably is friends with many women. But he is a man, and men are not BlogHers.

Is it so wrong to want one weekend for ourselves?

I vote yes.

I myself have told Neil - in person - that he should come to Blogher. Clearly, it's time for our boy to be a man and decide to come on his own.

Will someone please go tell Neil to come to BlogHer?
He asked me the other day what I thought and here is the exchange he posted on Citizen of The Month.

Neil: I see youâ€™re going to BlogHer. Do men go to BlogHer?
Chantel: Definitely. You should come. You can blog live about it.
Neil: I donâ€™t know. It undercuts the whole reason for BlogHer if men go to it. Besides, it would feel a little wussy going to it, with all that girl stuff.
Chantel: No, I think youâ€™ll fit right in.
Neil: Huh? What do you mean by that?

Everyone loves a rennaissance man, Iâ€™ve promised him a T-Shirt. I guess I could promise him everything but sex if heâ€™ll show. Maybe we can share a double bed with a chalk line drawn down the middle?

I still think its part of his continuing David Letterman like campaign to get Dooce to comment on his blog.
