Each year, a handful of community members step up and lend a hand to BlogHer in a variety of capacities. They work hard to ensure the annual conference is a success, and we want to highlight those committees that are helping us develop BlogHer '09. To each of these committees, and to each of these women, BlogHer says a hearty THANK YOU.

Tech Committee

The Tech Committee is staffed with geeky women who helped figure out how to improve our technical programming this year, including helping define our innovative Geek Lab and the community submission and polling mechanism we're using to populate the Geek Lab. The committee will also make sure the final Geek Lab programming is as strong and diverse as it can be. See committee members below.

International Activist Scholarship Selection Committee

The International Activist Scholarship Selection Committee helped BlogHer select the winning recipients of our Scholarship, based on blogging activism work around the globe. See committee members below.

Green Committee

The Green Committee advises BlogHer on ways to make our '09 event even more green than it has been in past years. See committee members below.

Community Keynote Selection Committee

The Community Keynote Selection Committee assists BlogHer and Community Keynote curator Eden Kennedy in culling through hundreds of entries to be read by BlogHer community members during Friday night's keynote. See committee members below.

Tech Committee

Denise Tanton
Denise is the BlogHer Community Manager who started her life on the
internet by developing a serious addiction to chat at iVillage. From
there she was employed at Women.com as a Message Board Moderator and
WebMd as a Senior Community Moderator.
Nelly Yusupova
Nelly Yusupova is the CTO at Webgrrls International, the founder of DigitalWoman.com, and the Chapter Leader of New York City Webgrrls. She is a Wall Street Journal “Woman on the IT fast track.” Nelly has been a featured tech expert on INC Magazine’s Website inc.com and has appeared as a guest expert on the NBC Today Show. She is frequently asked to speak across the country at many industry events about careers in technology, Web 2.0, marketing online, building communities, blogging, and social media. She conducts workshops and courses and writes extensively for the industry.
Shazia Mistry
I started creating websites in 1998, yes, back when "table" was not
thought of as a swear-word! I've been from "dotcom" startup to design
firm to corporation, and now I am a work at home mother of 3 boys,
blogging at Adventures in Motherhood.
I work with many different blogging platforms, including WordPress,
xpressionEngine, Textpattern, as well as many forums and online
shopping cart system. I like to think that I offer "solutions", instead
of just website support; offering clients an appropriate and complete
system for their projects. I offer tutorials and general blogging

International Activist Scholarship Selection Committee

Denise Tanton

Elisa Camahort Page
A blogging pioneer and marketing executive with 18 years of experience
in Silicon Valley, Elisa Camahort Page leads all events, marketing and
public relations for BlogHer while working as COO to ensure that all
company operations deliver on our vision. Elisa was at the vanguard of professional and business blogging. Among the seven blogs she writes are blogs with personal, professional and political focus areas. In addition to her many personal blogs, Elisa is a frequent public speaker and is widely read as BlogHer's conference leader and reality television editor.
Georgia Popplewell
Georgia Popplewell is a media producer, journalist, editor and blogger from Trinidad and Tobago. She has worked in independent television in the Caribbean since 1989 and has written extensively on culture, music, film and sport. In 2005, she started Caribbean Free Radio, the Caribbean’s first podcast. Popplewell is Managing Director of Global Voices, an international citizen media project founded at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society.
Julie Ross Godar
Julie Ross Godar has been in digital media for 15 years, with a passion for activism that goes back to her undergraduate days at the University of California at Berkeley. As the managing editor of BlogHer.com, Julie reads an unfathomable number of blogs per day -- and is proud to say that reading the work of these bloggers was an honor and a pleasure.
Kim Pearson
Kim Pearson is a BlogHer contributing editor and an Associate Professor of English and Interactive Multimedia at The College of New Jersey.

Green Committee

Anna Hackman
Anna Hackman is a passionate about green building and sustainability as well as an avid organic gardener. She is a LEED AP, green building and sustainability consultant as well as a real estate attorney. In addition, Anna is the editor of Green Talk, a green living website and GreenTalk Ning Forum geared toward creating a conversation on how to living a greener lifestyle. Topics vary from green living, green building, recycling, and organic gardening with personal insight from Anna of her own experiences of greening her home and garden. She is honored to be a member of the Blogher green team and to work with the other green team members to make the Chicago BlogHer's Conference sustainable.
Beth Terry
Two years ago, Beth Terry was astounded to learn how plastic pollution is harming our oceans, threatening marine life, and entering our food chain. She determined to take personal action. On her blog, Fake Plastic Fish (www.fakeplasticfish.com), she tallies her own weekly plastic waste and writes about finding ways to reduce our plastic waste and plastic consumption and have fun in the process.
Last year, she spearheaded the Take Back The Filter campaign (www.takebackthefilter.org), a successful grassroots movement to urge Brita to take back and recycle its used water filter cartridges. She's a firm believer that through the power of the Internet, anyone can make a difference and make her voice heard.
Diane MacEachern
Diane MacEachern, the founder of Big Green Purse and author of Big Green Purse: Use Your Spending Power to Create a Cleaner, Greener World, helps empower women to use their marketplace clout to protect the environment. Her award-winning website, www.biggreenpurse.com, encourages women to green the marketplace by choosing eco-friendly products and services. Her "One in a Million Campaign," has leveraged millions of dollars in consumer spending to support greener manufacturing.
Diane has worked with institutions ranging from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the World Bank and spoken to audiences including the American Bankers Association, Harvard University, Frito-Lay, Pacific Life Insurance Company and the sultanate of Oman. Her writings have appeared in Good Housekeeping, The Washington Post, Family Circle, Self, Ladies Home Journal, and Country Living, among many others. Glamour magazine has named Diane one of the top women environmental leaders in America.
Lisa Nelsen-Woods
My name is Lisa Nelsen-Woods. I've been living some form of the green life ever since my mother swaddled my newborn butt in cloth diapers. My family emphasized reducing waste whenever possible, fixing things that were broken, and creative reuse. I learned my mad crafting and DIY skills early in life and like to teach others that power tools aren't scary things just for boys! I write the blog Condo Blues. I like to present green living options to my readers who may not have celebrity budgets or want to give up all modern conveniences – they just want learn how to keep living the good life but do it using less. My craft and decorating projects have been featured on Apartment Therapy, Re-nest, and The Kitchn. I wrote the green blog Sustainable Style for Capessa.com.

I am a professional blogger, Internet and affiliate marketer, early childhood education advocate and I specialize and focus on the green niche but do not limit myself. For GreenandCleanMom.org I review green products, research Eco-friendly issues, market green products, sell them, utilize affiliate marketing strategies, sell ad space and freelance for other blogs and websites.
I run Mommy Go Green Blog Tours to connect companies to mom bloggers with the same cause and passions. Through Green and Clean Mom, LLC I consult for companies to help merge their existing marketing plan with social marketing and networking. I love connecting with parents that want to go green and inspire and motivate others to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. This is why Organic Baby Products 101, with Monica from Healthy Green Moms, has been launched to continue organic and healthy living.
