I really enjoyed the comparisons of social networking v. blogging and the BlogHer Network v. other populations.

One question: What is up with that full-time employment stat? It seems crazy low to me.

I suspect that question needs more options. I might have put other or some such, because to me "full-time" indicates simply working a full-time job, whereas I work full-time plus I have a small business. So I need a full-time plus category. ;)

Great data here that people can use in so many ways. Businesses large and small can use it to find where their ideal customers hang out. Women can use it to find community, resources, and support for personal or professional. Can't wait to dig even deeper into the numbers...perhaps I'll encounter Denise while lost in the depths...

BlogHer Releases Second Annual Women and Social Media Study: It's all about you!

Today we are pleased to announce the release of the results from the 2009 Women and Social Media Study by BlogHer, iVillage and Compass Partners. The Study illustrates how women are turning to many forms of social media, including blogs, for fun, entertainment, community and connection, but that we are more than twice as likely to go to blogs versus social network sites when we're seeking information, advice and recommendations.

Last year, when we did our 2008 Benchmark Study of Women and Social Media, we learned that blogs had definitely hit the mainstream, were addictive, and formed a trusted community and information resource to those of us reading and writing them. We also learned that we are all happily stealing time from other media and communications channels to spend more time in the blogosphere.

This year the 2009 Women and Social Media Study digs a little deeper into how we use blogs versus social networks like Facebook and MySpace or status updating tools like Twitter. And how we continue to find the time to use all of these social media tools.

The full press release can be found here:
BlogHer Finds Women Online Twice As Likely To Use Blogs Over Social Networking Sites As Trusted Source of Information

The Executive Summary of the 2009 Women and Social Media Study can be found here:
2009 Women and Social Media Study by BlogHer, iVillage and Compass Partners

We polled both a representative sample of the U.S. Women's population and a sample of the BlogHer Network population. We hope you'll check it out and let us know what you think of the results.
