Good tip

Jenna, good tip about chewing carefully. It made me think of a tip for using canned chickpeas.

If you're using canned chickpeas, rinse them very well (until absolutely no foam shows) and it will decrease the undesirable side effects of eating beans quite a lot.

Give them a try!

Sam, give them a try. BTW, it was interesting that Elise and I both found and posted the same Garbanzo and Tomato salad from Sunset magazine.

Can you tell I am trying to emulate your headlines? I think "Beet it, Beet it" may be one of your best headlines yet!

Oh No

Now I'm craving hummus. Big time. Mmmm. Mouth watering.

THAT said, be careful while eating chickpeas. We know they're good. We know you love them. But chew them first, folks. DO NOT ASPIRATE THEM. My Husband, a fire/medic, was called to Ruby Tuesdays a few years ago for a choking man. Turns out he sucked one of those babies right down into his lung. Yikes. I'm always extra careful now when I eat A MOUNTAIN of chickpeas on my salad.

Oh, yum.

From Fatfree Vegan Kitchen

Whether you call them garbanzos or chickpeas, there are a lot of delicious offerings that can be made from this humble bean.

To get you started, the lovely Indira of Mahanandi
has a great photo of four types of chickpeas, or chana.

If you're ambitious enough to cook your own, Erin's Kitchen has a tip on cooking fresh garbanzo beans.

In the photo, you see a yummy looking Roasted Tomato Hummus from Susan at Fatfree Vegan Kitchen
