Keeping an Eye on the Nonprofit Sector and other great finds via Netsquared

I just discovered a new (to me anyway) blog on nonprofits called the Nonprofit Eye via a provocative post on the Netsquared Community Blog. The blog is written by Pamela Ashlund who works for the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, although this is her personal blog. She a prolific blogger, a nonprofit techie, and has worked in the nonprofit sector for twenty years.

She recently introduced her blog on the Netsquared site:

Don't know where I fit in the scheme of things here, but I have to start somewhere. It's time to strike up a conversation backed by sound research, philosophy and experience. How is it we don't have our own "Wall Street Journal" by now. So much of the real-estate space in nonprofit rags is devoted to a) our own salaries; b) how to raise money; or c) what nifty new accounting software we should buy. I've launched my own blog, the Nonprofit to do my part - kickoff some discussion on real stuff, like revenue recognition, the meaning of charity, the hazards of promising too much, the oxymoron of performance outcomes, etc. etc. Join in, viva la revolution!

Deborah Finn (CyberYenta) wrote a post "What do small nonprofits need to know about fundraising technology?"

Britt Bravo's points us to a road trip taken by staff members of the National Resources Defense Council that took driving one hybrid and one ethanol-powered sedan. And speaking about using flickr to promote nonprofit causes,Britt also points us to a new campaign to convince to the auto industry to improve fuel efficiency and eliminate greehouse gasses by 2020 called Jump Start Ford. A podcast interview with TechSoup's Susan Tenby and Salvador Luna about TechSoup's Mixed Reality Event last month on Second Life. (There is also a podcast interview with Jeska Linden from Linden Labs, creators of Second Life.)
