That 20% slip has been my downfall

Crabby,

This winter I kind of slipped into that 20% place. And I'm (still) carrying the extra pounds from letting it happen. (sigh... when will I learn?)

Interesting thing about the occasional indulgences: most times I do not want them on "their appointed day" and feel quite comfortable simply giving myself permission to wait until the next time. Yet, if I totally denied myself these things, I'd obsess, crack and over indulge on them.

I find that it's really helpful in staying healthy in the long run.

But I have to watch that it doesn't slide to 20, 30, or 40 percent, which it will do if I don't stay conscious of my "treats."

Love the oil change/ fried chicken example of tying occasional indulgences to non-emotional triggers. Hadn't thought of that!

Thanks Deb and Jory, that was great! Now I'm off to Dinner with Julie and Bitch Ph.D. to catch those tips.

This Week's Juice Video Episode: Get Motivated to Eat Healthily

That nutritional pyramid is burned into my mind--the one that lays out how many servings of fish and proteins, fruits and veggies I'm supposed to be eating every day--and yet it does nothing to quell that voice in my head that says, "You know, Jor, that report you're writing would get done much quicker with some chocolate". That voice speaks very clearly, a lot more clearly than the one that whispers, "Boy does that lettuce looks good. Who needs Ranch dressing?"

I knew that BlogHer Contributing Editor Deb Roby, author of WeightForDeb, was THE gal to interview for this episode on eating well. Since 2007 I'd see her and wonder, what kind of fabulousness has she been injecting? Turns out there was nothing she was adding, but rather subtracting. She had lost 50 pounds--of fat, she makes clear. And she became a master of those voices, learning to reinterpret what they were telling her and making the whispering, healthier ones easier to hear. I thought that her advice from this episode was worthy of sharing--and following!. I now have an entirely new thought when I hear the word "transporters". See the video to know what I mean.

Also, Julie of Dinner with Julie gave some advice for dealing with the voices that I thought was brilliant. Good stuff, women!

I invite you to see the video and what I found to be a healthy and simple take on eating better. Another post that I found to be an inspiration won the BlogHer of the Week award a few weeks back, from Ding of Bitch Ph.D, "The other Side of 200".

Give us your thoughts on Deb's tips, or some of your own that we can showcase here on TheJuice.

Next week: Love starved? Or do you insist that you'll get around to romance? We're taking tips on how you find time for love.
