I would so, so appreciate the opportunity to learn from Tim Gunn! The timing for this is serendipitous. In just two weeks, I'll be headed to New York City to work at offices located in the super stylish SoHo district. I've worked from home in Atlanta for 3 years and my style is well... that of someone who works at home.

Ironic sidenote: I am a web designer that specializes in CSS, which basically means I create STYLE for the web. But I have little to no sense of STYLE when it comes to dressing myself.

BlogHer is still a few days away and, with my 12 month-old Wobbler (he's not quite a Toddler) underfoot, I haven't had time to think about what I'll be wearing or even wash my laundry yet! Regardless, here are a few of my staples I know I'll be bringing:

- Something to hide my ever-increasing baby bump (Note to self: It's time to dig out the hideous maternity clothes from baby #1. Sigh.)

- Proper rain attire -- have you seen the weather report? Blech.

- My hair straightening iron -- again, have you seen the weather report?

- My favorite perfume, Fleurissimo by Creed

- A big, beautiful smile for Tim and all my sister Bloggers :)

That's right, your friends at Tide are bringing Tim Gunn - the leading fashion authority - to BlogHer '09!

As someone who celebrates personal style, Tim wants to know what everyone is wearing to BlogHer. BlogHer attendees are encouraged to post a comment below and link to a photo (on their personal blogs) of the fashionable outfits they'll wear in Chicago. In the meantime, here are a few tips that might help "guide your style" as you decide what to pack for BlogHer:

Tim Gunn's Essential Items for BlogHer:

Basic Black Dress - The basic black dress has been around for a long time. It is often called the "Little Black Dress" and it's true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in the right place, can be more flattering than a long black dress. The LBD is a key essential for all those cocktail and after parties throughout BlogHer!

Classic Shirt - The white shirt is a definite classic. But it can also come in many different styles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man's piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots. Dress it down during the conference with jeans and a blazer - you'll look chic and feel comfortable at the same time.

Jeans - Everyone has a pair of jeans, but does everyone have a pair of jeans that makes them look great? The wider leg, low-rise jean style has been popular (and still is) but a narrower leg is coming back along with a higher waist, which eliminates the unflattering "muffin top" look. Make sure to bring comfortable jeans for all those sessions when you'll be sitting down.

Skirt - If you need dress pants then you also need a skirt. A skirt is womanly and can be flirty or businesslike. Nowadays women do not wear many skirts or dresses, which makes a lot of them fall into a rut of dressing sloppily or like men. See number 8.

Day Dress - Women also are not wearing as many dresses anymore. It was certainly liberating to go from the '50s when women wore dresses every day to wearing more practical pants for gardening, exercising, and so forth. But the dress does not have to be abandoned altogether. They can be very flattering, and there is nothing wrong with "dressing up" for daytime - especially during summertime in Chicago.

Jacket - A jacket does not have to be masculine. Find one with a proper, fitted shape. Women's jackets should follow the silhouette of a woman's body and accent the hourglass curve at her waist. It is also a perfect piece to put with the skirt or dress pants, and white shirt. Or make it casual with a pair of jeans as you're working the conference floor!

Clothing Maintenance - A cardinal rule of great fashion is to take good care of your clothes. Use a detergent like Tide Total Care to prevent fading, stretching and pilling, so your clothes look newer, longer.
