Unrealistic diet...like all the others

So what happens when the individual returns to eating normal food...oh wait, I know, they gain it all back with a vengeance. I admit that most diets out there that promote a quick fix can sometimes be convincing on paper and when one is desperate to loose a few pounds, you know, to get you started on the weight loss wagon. But then it all come crashing down and the anxiety and stress from the let down of a promising product kicks in which makes everything worse. It's such a terrible cycle to be in...been there, done that and know better to never to do it again. Thanks for posting this, very important message.

http://www.familyinshape.typepad.com http://w

It's not just the cookie diet I object to - I'm against any diet that doesn't teach people to handle real food in moderation.

I am so addicted to food and eat emotionally. I always have, and I believe it was passed down to me by my mother who also admits to it. I suffer from depression/anxiety as well as Bulimia since I was 16. This combinaton of addiction to food-eating when my anxiety level is high/I'm depressed is deadly and it's been such a HARD thing for me to overcome. I feel hopeless sometimes. I don't know what to replace my food for...music? yoga? How do you break something you've done for so long?

Thank you for your post! I'm going to start a journal and see if it helps!

YAY Baby Boomers!

I'm with you on the baby boomer show.

This season too many from the sunny, does this bikini make my head look big?, state of CA.

They are following in the footsteps of too many generic cast sitcoms. I want to see REAL diversity, a broad age, shape, size, ethnic mix. Or at least change the ratio to 70:30 in favor of over 40's.

Could I survive? Not in physical challenges against 23 year old "Hunks". But I bet I could if it was NOT a game. I thumbed across the US twice before I was 14, and I survived THAT, hahaha.

I used to think I might have a shot at getting to the "final four," at least. Then there was that season (I forgot where the contestants were) when they had to eat these fertilized egg things? And you could see the curled up half-chicks? Um... No, not even for a million dollars. Blech!

My Travel Site

The Vacation Gals

I've had similar experiences

One black bean burger I made a couple of years ago was such a horrible disaster that I do believe it is what turned me back toward the carnivorous life. However, certain people in my family like to tell me that those were the best burgers they've ever had.

Too bad I couldn't make them again since the original recipe was CRAP and I ended up doing... I'm not even sure.... to get them to patty form and then to the table.

Then, last week, TW attempted a veggie burger that our friend Elaine Magee wanted us to test for her new cookbook. Umm it tasted great but it wasn't burger like. Tofu sloppy joe without the tomato sauce. Or more closely related to an egg salad or something. Definitely not burgerlike though.

Why is it so easy to make a veggie burger from scratch that tastes good... but so impossible to make the actual burger/patty shape and texture???

I love the article and i totally agree. Losing weight with soup is easier than it looks. For me, soups are filling and for there weight in calories, i really feel like i ate something! I think that a soup every day, especialy in winter, is part of a great healthy life and it just.. tastes so good. Makes me think, can't wait to watch the first snow out the window!

I am not one for fad diets

I am not one for fad diets but I do watch my calorie intake every day. I try not to eat many carbs, I eat no red meat I eat as many fresh vegetables as possible and I work out as often as I can. I do have a family and I am not wealthy but I think it is selfish to eat more than we need and also to your family if ou eat unhealthy food. take control of your life and make yourself healthier!

We initially made this

We initially made this switch due to researching the health benefits
(disease reversal and prevention), losing all of that weight was just a
perk! So, that may be something you're interested in.

Don't be so prejudice

The diet was not interesting to me, and believe me, I was not that interested, until I heard about it the 2nd time. It is a great diet for someone that wants to eat healthy, but not have to be so restricitve on what you cannot eat or are required to eat 8 times a day. (I don't have time to eat 8 times a day, I barely have time to sit down when I get home from work) You tailor it to fit you. Everyone on this diet is following it differently but with the same focus, high anti oxident rich foods. It sounds weird, but you can have those times when you can eat out. You mainly stick to eating foods that are rich in antioxidents, fruits, salads, nuts, oils and protein. If someone is eating out and you are there, you can definitely out with them and not be so restrictive on what you can eat. You are basically watching your total calorie intake for the whole week, etc... Some people are very restrictive in their Calorie Restriction, others are more laxed. I just want more energy and lose weight, if I live a healthy life, and not look like my Parents, barely walk, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and taking all kinds of medication and going to the Dr for all of these tests. I am for it. If I can live to see my Grandchildren, GOD BLESS!! This is a diet you gradually get into, so it does not start over night. Your body has to adjust. Since I have been on it, May 2009 I have lost 20 pounds, and I am just starting. My Husband has lost 30. We eat a healthy breakfast, grains, nuts, sometimes eggs and bacon, but we watch what we eat and are still losing. It is a lifestyle and has changed ours for the better.
