lifestyle tip for reducing blood pressure: pet your cat or dog!

Research has shown that pet owners have lower blood pressure and less stress in their lives than people who don't have pets. The simple act of petting your dog or cat can lower your blood pressure, and your stress levels.

Additionally, dog owners tend to get more exercise - being "forced" to take a walk with your dog at least twice a way is a great way to get more exercise.

I can't think of an easier, and more rewarding, way to achieve better health.

Innovative methods of lowering blood pressure

Hello. Is a man allowed to make a comment on this blog network? If not, you have my permission to delete my comment.

One way to lower blood pressure is to eliminate stressful people from your life. For example, if you are unhappily married, getting a less stressful husband will probably take at least 10 points off your blood pressure reading.

Melon!

Yum to melon. I never knew how important melon was. It is funny I thought it was all water a long time ago. I couldn't figure why I craved watermelon so much during my first pregnancy and let me tell you it probably gave me energy to make it through the rest of the work day. I'd visit the fruit truck outside my office every afternoon.

That was many years before I had ever heard of horned melon. Another melon I love is sprite (I think that is what it is called). About the size of a grapefruit, light green and so refreshing...I'm going to have to run to the market tomorrow morning and get me some melon.

Happy 4th of July!

I'm also into a weight loss

I'm also into a weight loss program of sorts, not really that unconventional. I'm trying out meal replacements and I'm now eating 5-6 small meals a day. I might try facing the mirror with just my underwear to keep me on track. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm a Herbalife addict!

I'm not sure about Subliminal Messages, but I know for me when I run my mindset has a big effect on how I feel and how well I run. The mind is a very powerful and I think we are now just starting to understand how to harness it's power.

I'm also attempting to complete the weight loss journey. Unfortunately (*ahem*), a recent c-section means I'm unable to participate in any exercise regime for several weeks so am sticking to an online plan. I'm interested to hear if the subliminal messaging works though!

Good luck on your quest, I hope you end up lbs lighter!

Diets and diet aids do not help anyone. The only way to successfully lose weight and get the body that you deserve is by using the right information. This information is in the book Lose Weight Using Four Easy Steps which can be ordered through the website www.bbotw.com Everyone who has gotten a copy of this book has lost weight.

"Break The Fast"

Hello Everyone,

After 23 years of fitness and weight loss industry experience and working with thousands of clients to help them lose weight - I can tell you that breakfast is by far one of the most important meals of the day to enable long term weight management success and just overall better performance.

Then you also have to consider the benefits of Dietary Induced Thermogenesis - the calories that are required by your body to digest and absorb the food you are eating. Even though it might seem insignificant add that up over 7 days per week x 4 week per month x 12 months per year x how many years - it adds up!

Best Wishes

Your body knows what it's doing

I've never eaten breakfast, but I've always been thin. I have trouble eating a full meal right after I wake up. I'll get a muffin, bagel w cream cheese, or some yogurt with granola and eat it over the course of an hour, but if I try to sit down to a full meal before 10am, my body rebels immediately.

Your genetics have more to do with your weight/health than eating breakfast ever will. I am a research librarian and I haven't seen studies which back up these theories. Nevertheless, I think it's a bad idea to force your body to do what doesn't come naturally to it.

When I was younger my mother forced me to finish everything on my plate. (A portion created arbitrarily to fit the plate.) Later she was trying to lose weight and her nutritionist said 'Stop thinking about cleaning your plate. When your body says you are done eating, you are done eating.'

I sometimes eat breakfast and sometimes don't but even if I eat this really hearty filling breakfast I actually tend to eat more throughout the day. Odd? Yeah I know

I do always eat breakfast, but it's always small and fast. I usually have a bowl of cold cereal, but lately I've started enjoying a cup of Greek yogurt. Since my breakfast is small, my trick is to have apples handy for a late morning snack.
