(The bonus here? I've seen your lips before so I can already imagine how great it's gonna look!)

It was the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion (it's basically a toner) and it smells so delicious that I feel extra scrubbed clean when I use it. But I'm out right now so I have to order more.

Here's the link for that if you're interested. Happy shopping!

I love Mario Badescu's stuff, too! There's another product for getting rid of oil on your skin that smells fresh and I can't remember the name of it. I'll have to look it up if you're interested. SO yummy fresh.

Thanks for your picks! Great list.

5 Things I Love

Here are some of my faves:

Cuccio Naturale Butter Blend - Since it isn't water-based, moisturizes feet, hands and body nicely.

Denman Paddle Brush - gets rids of tangles while being gentle on hair.

Aquaphor Ointment, by Eucerin - better than Vaseline for ashy elbows and knees.

Co-signing on Burt's Bees Lip Balm. LOVE IT!!!

Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion - for those big, red, nasty, blistery cystic acne pimples. Heals and fades. My newest aqusition.

First off I want to thank

First off I want to thank you and Kar for giving nice replies. Normally when I talk about something like this I'm viciously attacked. That's why the tone of my original blog is kind of nasty and defensive. Cause even when I say this stuff in a nice, calm tone people will tear me to pieces and call me stupid and all sorts of other names.

I have to agree that taking something in is better then letting it out.

It's not just the stuff made in China though - it's just the fashion designers period. Like it or not, they still make stuff for their stick-thin models. If you go over to Myitthings.com and check out the winner of their fashion design contest you'll see the women are so thin they could be used as toothpicks. The clothing made for them looks okay on them, but on a normal size woman it would make her look like she's overweight, and on someone fat like me it would look like a clown's costume. Frankly, I don't know how she won as her designs are really ugly.

http://www.smashingdarling.com/store/it-designer

There's one I saw that makes the flat chested model actually look like she has breasts hanging down at stomach level. I even said so.

Like it or not, clothing is still not being made for the average, everyday woman. It's being made for the fashionably aneroxic looking women. It's not fair. I also happen to think it's lousy business practices. Since the majority of women can't disapear if they turn sideways they can't really wear the clothing being designed.

I have guns

I am polish. I have big booty and muscles in my arm that show my roots of a past farming generation that halled water to the farm.

I mainly wear a size two but I buy mostly sleeveless because the size two button down with long sleeves, squeeze my upper arms in like sausages.

The problem with buying clothes made in china is the model form they use. They do not account for the array of different proportions to a body.

The best thing to do is buy sleeves that fit and have the bodice sinched because the way they manufacture clothes these days, there is little allowance to expand.

This is also a good rule to follow when large boobs are in play. By something and have it altared in. You can always have it let out. If you buy a dress for a special occassion thinking you will lose weight in time.....think again. buy smart!!

Didn't know about that....

I actually have a seamstress that has been doing my stuff since I was a little girl. So I suppose I could find something and have sleeves added. Though I wonder if it would look strange - especially if I couldn't find an exact match in the materials. It's just frustrating and depressing when you look for something good for you and don't find it. I tend to blank out on other options.

You would think though, with everyone saying that Americans are getting fatter that the fashion industry would be concentrating on better fashions for fat women rather then making larger versions of the skinny girls clothes - especially since a lot of the skinny girls stuff isn't that attractive either. I mean, horizontial stripes alone are not good for anyone unless they're so thin their chest is concave.

I saw a doco about a dress shop in Sydney

that caters to the Lebanese muslim community. They do mostly formal wear and wedding dress, but do a lot of alterations ADDING sleeves to the dresses - for modesty reasons. And they deliberately sought out new-fashion stuff with sleeves. So maybe if there's a muslim community near you there would be similar shops?

But even if thats not an option, it's often easy for a dressmaker to ADD sleeves to a store-bought dress.

(The documentary was an owner, who wanted to start a chain of shops for muslim women - she rocked)

ps. i think that Igigi dress is awesome too.

The Blackness of Black Clothes

Linda, I'm not sure about the rules of color matching any more, after all bags and shoes no longer need to match (don't tell my mother), but black no longer seems as sophisticated as I once thought. Maybe it's because I no longer live in New York and so I don't have that presented as the standard any more. But boy, it feels good to wear color, and when I put the black on--it's funeral feeling. Maybe, too, it's that much of my black clothes are suits or suit parts and so are of unnatural fabrics. I still like black bottoms, but I have freed myself from black tops. WooHoo!

Common uses for black clothing

I've always relied on black clothing for three reasons. One, of course, is for funerals. The second has been the use of black tops/jackets to allow myself to wear black shoes with pants/skirts/dresses of a different color. Third, and most important, was the necessity of wearing black pants during those 'heavy days' during my period!

Denim and the Quilters of Gee's Bend

That's quite a list! You're probably familiar with the African American quilters of Gee's Bend. Many of the Gee's Bend quilters make use of denim (along with courderoy and a number of other materials). Their beautiful quilts are on display at museums all over the US, which goes to show that , with a little artistic flair, you can use any material to make a quilt!

Quilts

My mother made us all those denim quilts as kids and do they ever wear! I've made tons of them and my favorite part about them is how heavy and warm they are. I don't think I could live without my denim and flannel quilts.
