I really enjoyed reading this! I've read lots about dreamboards but not heard the word dreamboarding, and not been inspired yet to try one myself even though I do a lot of collages that incorporate my dreams in my art journal. I just need to try it now! Thanks

I always tend to buy myself a little gift or two this time of year, so I seem to have that kind of "self-care" down. But I need to work on the things that Kristin mentions. So this year I'm extending the gifts of forgiveness, understanding, and compassion to myself. I'd trade all the little goodies for that type of goodness.

I have splurged!

This year, I bought myself a pack of coloured pencils. Oh, and signed up for Leonies Creative Goddess e-course.

I have never done anything like this before. I've never bought myself a Christmas present before, either! Your post came along just when I was wondering if it was not a good thing to do, so thank you for helping me feel good about it.

So true, not gifting to yourself is actually the worst thing you can do.

I have been questioning this phenomenon for a while as it might be a symptom of not being in your power.
I call the whole proces to take care of myself *making myself legitimate*.

And in making myself legitimate I get to hear my desires, get to openly share my opinions and claim time for myself and attention.

As long as I don't think I count, why would others.
And as long as I don't think I count I will not voice what I want and leave others in the dark about how they can contribute.

Standing up for yourself and claiming space on this earth is a gift to everybody, you and the people around you.

And faking it in an alter ego blog, wonderful.

These are all lovely ideas. For some of my sweet soulsisters I'm making matchbox shrines. I can recycle tins and boxes I've been gathering all year, and use my stash of art supplies to make meaningful prettties. Each one will have a tiny blessing rolled up inside.

Crafting as Therapy

This is what got me into crafting. It gave me an outlet when I was younger and in a better financial place (no kiddo's or hubby to feed back then-lol). Now it's morphed into financial therapy. Especially with the holidays upon us, I feel like I have more financial control when I craft. Less money spent on gifts=More money in our bank account!

I'm planning on tea and coffee themed gifts utilizing free samples and Goodwill tea & coffee cups. A chocolate peppermint dipped biscotti with a recipe card will make a great gift for our neighbors. Also, I'm making some scented gel air fresheners, reed diffusers, etc with essential oils and jar gifts galore. I only wish I had a sewing machine-mine didn't survive our last move (bummer)!

Oh, I love the idea of putting your soul into gift-making. And thank you for the practical ideas. Last year, my kids and I made spiced instant coffee mix and lavender milk bath for gifts.

There was a lovely article in this month's Wondertime magazine about the "$100 holiday" - have you read that book? It always amazes me how the simplest gifts made with love are the ones that are most treasured.

The phrase "working mother" is redundant.

I sometimes make mini dream boards on 4x6 inch cards (about 10cmx15cm) that I can carry with me in my purse and easily set up by my computer so I see it all the time.

I'm a firm believer in the energy of the world: the energy you put out is the energy you get back. If you think positive thoughts about what you want, take steps to achieve your objectives, and physically put the energy out there, i.e. on a dreamboard, it's definitely more likely to come true. Now I want to make one!!
