Ok I admit it. I have never blogged, I'm not even sure that I know how to blog. I guess I never really understood the whole thing. I mean why would anyone want to put their personal thoughts out there for everyone to see?? I journal, and I would not want the entire planet to read them. So the question is, "why am I blogging"? Well I recieved an email about a contest to receive a $200 Best Buy gift card to purchase anything in their store. In the email it highlighted a Samsung fridge, (stainless steel, french doors, VERY COOL). I for one would LOVE a new fridge/freezer. The one that I currently have is small, 20cubic feet, and we have 8 kids, five still at home. So I am forced to use another very small fridge that is out in my garage to store the things that won't fit into the one in the house. so I am taking a chance on this contest to get enough gift cards to buy a new Samsung fridge/freezer. So if that means blogging alot, what the heck.

It's funny how as moms we always think we are the ONLY ONE out there that feels like we are alone, or overwhelmed, or that we just can't take it anymore! That's why support groups and places like this are so vital to the survival of "you" in motherhood. I guess that's why the topic is so highly requested by women's groups when I speak.

My suggestion - find a five minute time out spot. Sometimes five minutes is all it takes. I call it five minutes in the freezer at my house - Five minutes is sometimes all we can get, but it's a very important five minutes.

For the record, luckily none of the keys on my laptop are missing, however, I am on my third wireless transmitter for my mouse...

Getting a Jump Start

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have done those things. I am looking around at all the different things and as someone else said in a later post ( I think it was Wilma) you need to take responsibility for yourself and learn.

I started blogging many years ago (about 8 I think) and got away from it until recently. The only forum type things out there were linking to other blogs and building your community by links. A blogroll was more like just a link of other sites you had referred to.

Bloglines was another way to get your blog out there. I guess I thought that my blog posts from my other formed blogs would be on blog her. I am finding out differently.

Also is there a moderator on the introduce yourself forums or an editor for new members.

I posted on the introduce yourself but no response. Maybe I am looking in the wrong areas. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do want to participate!

Hi Lisa

I am impressed with all the continuous efforts and the willingess to keep improving BlogHer.
As I wrote in one of my posts here on BlogHer, it takes time to figure out new things like these and taking the time is not what we are always prepared to do.

Though I am very impressed with the support when I take my time to figure things out. Denise always answers my questions and the beginners group is a good forum to find things out.
As I said in my post about BlogHer though, the problem in the beginning was that I was so overwhelmed I did not even know what my questions were and I felt a bit conscious that the questions might be dumb.
The usual story, hey Lisa. keeping quiet because you do not want to look stupid and you are visible when you ask things.

For me it is about taking responsibility myself; do I want to figure this site out and if 'yes' I do need to take the time to look around and to ask questions.
And as I said, I am impressed how my questions have been answered by Denise and I have never heard her sniggering :)

I agree. We definitely have some more work today -- glad you think we're headed in the right direction.

For example, my favorite application is the "Share This" link, which appears in tiny text on every post. When you click it, tiny icons for Facebook etc. Show up. Love that! Needs to be easier to use however...

The New Look

THe new look is good. Being new to using this forum, I would like to find a few more places on the home page of how to get started and how to really use blog her. I joined a while back and have just been a more recent consistent user in the past 6 weeks.

I have found it a little frustrating on how to navigate through ALL the information. Perhaps a step by step of how to use the network and if there is a blog or editor how there that writes on how to use blogger, please point me in that direction.

Thank you. I love the concept and ideas that you have built here, I just need a little direction on how to use it at its fullest potentila.

I was literally just leaving the site and thinking this site needs to cleaned up as i am exhausted just wading through.... I was also literally wondering where you are and there you are sweeping out the heat of summer and creating a new look for the fall on "Blogher '

Bless you gorgeous Lisa and your team. The site was to top heavy Lisa touch to much content for me and a wee bit hard to work consistently through .I still only go a few places on the site as it is just to much to track through and have no idea how to join stuff but anyway onward and upward .. As we say here at vita "less can be best" And as you can see no idea how to delete a double entry so just removed the content ...but well done it is a big gig stream lining such a massive site .
