Happy Birthday!

I've never found aging to be a big deal. I turn 35 next Monday and have hit this place in my life that can be dubbed "Just Happy to Be Here". Getting older is a natural process and struggling against it never made much sense to me.

Its just another day for me, justa simple dinner with my closest friends ang my family, but i remebered few years back, after college, I had to reviewe for my licesure examination and it was the firts time I celebrated my birthday away from home, though I was living with my classamtes and my closest friends, it still felt terrible and it was my first birthday that I cried. Now that I am already 27, a dinner with my family and a talk with my bestfriend on the phone is enough for me to celebrate my special day.

But just like you, I am trying to focus on the positive. By the way, to judge by my husband, men have mixed emotions too after a certain age. They may not fret about wrinkles the way we do, but I think they still worry about aging and becoming less competent, or less employable, etc.

For some reason I never was into birthdays. The only birthday that I REALLY cared about
was when I turned 30. I think that hit
me hard…after all everything started to not ‘work’ right! But I got over it and am happy I’m in my 30’s now!

But this year (31) felt a little bit weird. I'm not sure why. I think I've reached the officially 'old' end of the spectrum. But I feel very grateful to still feel much younger : )

the dirt as they sometimes say here in North Carolina.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 38 and in less than two weeks I'll be 42. I appreciate every extra day that I didn't think I was gonna have.

Ah yes, back to school, Halloween and all manner of other events before Christmas finally gets here. Denise can you tell I'm out of the back-to-school loop? Did it. Loved it. And now I can empathize, though I'm one step removed.

I do not approve of Ottawa's addition of a monsoon season where summer should be. At this rate it feels like we're going to have two months of rain, then one week of summer, then 6 months of snow. Bleck!
