Hurricane Tammy Fay

OK that made me laugh out loud.

I hope you're right. We've talked to Michelle everyday for the last few days about BEING PREPARED! And we wonder about my son who is living part-time in a tent (with a broken zipper.) But generally speaking, we aren't worried about Fay either. Yet.

I remember

my grandparents telling us kids that our loved ones who were in heaven were bowling a raucous game that was making the sound of thunder booms. Having watched our grandpa bowl, we were all comforted by this and easily distracted from our fear. The other day, I used the same excuse with my 4 year old during a storm and was struck by her comfort - and my comfort in being able to pass on the nugget of wisdom.

It sounds like you are a great mom...dancing to the thunder - I'll have to remember that one!

Worry & Imagination

I read a sign by the side of the road a few months ago "Worry is a horrible waste of the imagination." I love it and vowed to choose faith instead of worry -- faith that God will intervene on my behalf (He promises to). So I use my imagination to imagine all the wonderful ways that might happen. I blogged on a related topic a couple of weeks ago -- "Choosing not to borrow tomorrow's troubles."

Surrendering

We walk around blessed so much and don't even realize it. Things happen that we have no choice but to surrender to and face.

You've probably heard the saying, if you're going to pray why worry and if you're going to worry why pray?

Resiliency is one of the most important characteristics/skills to have in the world today. A sense of knowing that whatever happens - we will be abel to face it...in due time.

Thanks for your post.

Yes the peace is amazing -- which makes it so odd that sometimes it takes a lot to actually surrender...we humans are odd critters, eh?

Beautiful!

Meta I enjoy reading your post, Thank You for another beautiful read.

I remember as a kid watching the sky turn from a bright blue to the color of split pea soup. It was amazing and scary at the same time. I remember though for a split second just staring at it and not being afraid.
