Unusual treatment.

This may sound strange, but try using Chap Stick to moisturize & heal. I've used it on the backs of my chapped hands, too.

anti-redness treatments

Hi NBB,

There are quite a few anti-redness treatments on the market that provide quick relief for red, irrittated noses (as well as the rest of your facial skin).

At BeautyStat.com, members have recommended: the Aveeno Ultra-Calm Moisturizers, Eucerin Redness Relief Moisturizer, La Roche Posay Anti-Redness Moisturizer and Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream.

Give one of these a try.

Okay, my car battery died shortly after writing this...and I was ticked. Stupid cold. And I'd still take a CO winter of MN any day. But something about being able to say "The high is -3, take that!" Makes me feel proud.

My husband moved to CO in his early 20s from MN. We met there, married there, started a family there...and yet here we are! Hmm...

Like Moths to a Flame

I've also been a Minnesotan for about 30 years (my entire life). I keep saying that I'm going to take up a winter hobby like skiing so that I'm excited when the cold and snow come. It still hasn't happened, so I only really enjoy how pretty it is when it snows (especially if I can enjoy it from inside my house). Why am I still here? Why are any of us here? I'm not sure, but I have heard that Minnesota and Maine have the highest "returnee" levels of any states, i.e. you may go away for school, jobs, etc. but you usually come back...

"I'll Be Home for Christmas"

... in just four days! And that would be 'northern' Minnesota, too, a full 300 miles of the Twin Cities where it's positively balmy.

When I was growing up, 40 below was "cold" -- anything else was a nice winter day. And honestly, it WAS. It was a drier cold, it snowed every day, the sun twinkled through snow crystals in the air.

Get me in the car, NOW. "I'll be home for Christmas."

From A Veteran Minnesotan

Glad you are adapting - I've been here 30 years and while I definitely do not like walking the dog in this weather, I do find it invigorating. Yesterday when it was still ridicously cold and snowing, we realized we were out of coffee so my daughter walked to the coffee shop one block away and came back with this thing that I will call a coffee stopper -- looks like a golf tee( okay I've never played golf) and you put it in the opening where you sip the coffee so it won't get cold while you are walking outside.

I moved from Florida to Chicago and I want to go on record as saying to things:

1) The only thing worse, to me, than living in Chicago would be living in Minnesota.

2) If I ever look forward to winter here in Chicago, someone should take me to a therapist - against my will if necessary because I will obviously be in need of some medical assistance.

But, I'm glad you've adjusted and seem happy to be a Minnesotan. This northern stuff, it's just not for me.

Sleep for the Weary.

As a mom of two (and 7/10), I'm sure you know these tricks, but just in case. I have had bronchitis so many times that I have figured out the best tricks for sleeping with the crud.
Sleep partially upright, the recliner is a great place if you can get comfy in it.
Keep the room cool. The warmer you are, the more you'll cough, and the more you cough the warmer you get. It's a downward spiral.
Run a humidifier. I didn't have to deal with this much while preggo, so the whole issue with sleep position may be an issue, but definitely don't get too hot! It makes it worse! :) Hope this helps a bit, and that you don't take offense to some unsolicited advice. :)
