I used to watch tennis much more often (was a huge Sampras fan.) But this has got me fired up, and I will definitely be watching. Do you know when it starts?

I See You're Really A Veteran...

It's funny, I became an avid fan while watching with my uncle in the days of Bjorn Borg and I played for a short while as a teenager. Then a few years ago I dropped a whole bunch of cash to join this singles club in New York. I didn't get one decent date out of it, but what I did get was an invite to a great tennis party. I enjoyed it so much, I signed up for lessons that week. That was six years ago and I've been playing ever since.

I play USTA League tennis for my local club and out at the local park, I play just for fun.

Right now I'm on the disabled list because of a shoulder injury, but I'm hoping to get back on the court by September.

My new love affair with blogging includes having a great time writing about tennis. Still no decent dates though. :)

heh.

I grew up with parents who played tennis and I was often brought to the courts to play quietly on the sidelines or wander the park right next to the court.

My dad was a Conners fan and my mom and Everett fan. Then of course there was Billy Jean and the bad boy McEnroe. Ash became a favorite of my father's at some point, though I don't remember when or why.

I know the logistics of the game, I just don't live in a world where I watch tv or follow sports of any kind. Oh except last month, at my daughter's house - her boyfriend was watching a match because he'd bet $10 on it. I can't remember who the dudes were but his guy lost, which I found amusing in some odd way.

And that reminds me, I said I was going to send my daughter a tennis racket for her birthday. I need to research this now since her birthday is at the end of the month. :-)

I'm really glad I peaked your curiosity. Tennis is a great game to play or to watch. With the US Open coming up at the end of August, it's an ideal time to learn more about the game.

Whenever you want a little tutorial---I know the scoring is a little silly, we all admit that---just let me know and I'll be happy to oblige. :)

I'm fascinated! I have no idea who most of these players are but have enjoyed reading your thoughts. I might even watch a match. OK I probably won't but maybe I'll read some news feeds about the matches and I'll know a little more than I would have if you had not posted this.
