Treat animal products like a condiment

Animal products are generally used very sparingly, much like a condiment.

I think that's the main point. Somehow in the western culture, dinner has become meat, with something on the side (starch, veggie).

But we really should "eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants" (Michael Pollan) to be healthy.

Having said that, when I serve my family a plate of grilled asparagus, brown rice and a small piece of schnitzel for dinner, all three of them (husband, two kids) tend to pretty much ignore the plants and ask for seconds of the breaded, fried chicken cutlets.
