My suggestion? Lighting it pink each time a woman in Italy gets murdered by her lover - ex, husband or ex. It happens 1 every 3 days.

Well, Italy is not alone. It's at epidemic proportions across the Mediterranean, and even in France where they supposedly love their dogs. But, I also hear that America has a problem, too. Maybe not in percentage terms, but in sheer numbers. Although, America, unlike Europe, is big on spaying. To say that the Europeans are loathe to sterilize their animals is an understatement. So, it's a snowball effect.

I have lived in Italy (Florence) a few times. I know what you mean about visitors!

But heck, Italy IS the greatest country in the world to visit (maybe sometimes to live in too.... when one is dealing with the bureacracy...*wink*)

As a total "italophile" I lOVE your posts! I have just started a blog about "healing from divorce in Italy" whiich for now is just about a trip to Italy but I am considering moving back to Italy... now that I am getting a divorce....and if it's not Florence, it'll be Rome.

I love the variety of your posts about living in Italy. I didn't know they lighted the coloseo green when capital punishment occurs in the US...? Can you tell me more about that?

Because in spite of the dirty trains, the weird station signs that lead you to nowhere, the lousy service,the uncertainty of it all, in spite of all that, god, we love Italy. So much.

So, the Vatican came out today & said that the Medical Doctor's Paper was fraudulent. The Doctors returned that that is an insult.
So, the Pope chimed in to restate the position (all fetuses be saved), and to influence the upcoming elections against the Left-Wing party.
Walter Veltroni (ex-Mayor of Rome who is running for Prime Minister as head of the Democratic Party) continued repeating that Italy is a secular state.
No news on what happened to the woman and police in Naples.

I'll keep my eyes peeled, but, you'll be glad to know that what transpired in Naples has gone to the highest levels of government, with most politicians and the Ministry of Health stating that the law will be untouched and the people responsible will be punished (although the local prosecutor in Naples who gave the go ahead will most likely stay in his place).

That makes me sick. Can you imagine police storming in during any procedure performed on men (say, a vasectomy?) and having anyone consider it acceptable? This is just another outrage emanating from forcing people to live under the rules of one particular religious belief.

It makes me wish I had lived there during my time as a military family member. Panamanians and Filipinos embraced the idea of the Thanksgiving feast utterly and completely and added their own twists which just meant more food to eat!
