It Really Is Better

Honestly, it took less than 5 minutes to make a batch (and that's just because I'm really slow). Because of that 5 minutes, I now have a huge batch that will probably last me through the rest of the winter. The recipe probably makes more than you'd get in a can of the instant stuff and it's just as instant... ;)

I confess

I must confess that I've never actually made cocoa -- I use the convenient little packets. But now you've got me thinking that there's a better way. Hmmm... guess I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for bringing it up.

Bad Bananas

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your comment. Oooh, bananas gone bad!

If you don't have time to make the banana bread, you can also peel the bananas and toss them in the freezer in a zip top bag. Then, add them to smoothies anytime you get a hankering... The frozen bananas will make it seem more lucious and ice-creamy.

Mamamich, this looks terrific! And I just happen to have a bunch of bananas with eight hours of life left in them. Okay, maybe four hours...

Great recipe! Thanks for

Great recipe! Thanks for sharing....Heidi Swanson also has a great recipe for all-natural power bars in her book, Super Natural Cooking. I would highly recommend those! I think it can also still be found by searching on the Food and Wine website, since it appeared in one of their issues the other year....
Very interesting!

Great post. I learned about some of the amazing sounding Diwali sweets last year when I wrote a post called Happy Diwali to Everyone. I have seen a few recipes for Halwa made with carrots and thought it sounded wonderful. Very fun hearing all the variations on how the word is used too.

My g/f has a retro-food blog where aspic is discussed and even seems to be appreciated. Frightening.

How fabulous that you behaved in such a grown up manner and have this memory to show for it. (I'm not an iced coffee fan and will now think of your story every time I see some poor fool drinking it.)
