Can't wait to fix some of these recipes. Can beat the heat with something not so hot.

Thanks

I just made a beet and cabbage slaw I will post soon. Cabbage seems to show up in our CSA bag a lot, I've had to learn to cook with it, and just like greens, come to love it as a result!

Thanks again!

Versatile Cabbage!

Cabbage is so versatile! It's great cooked in a stir-fry or raw for a salad. We find lots of uses for it.

My favorite cabbage salad (slaw) has peppers, cilantro, carrots, green onions, and an Asian vinaigrette flavored with ginger, lime, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil, and a bit of brown sugar.

http://www.andreasrecipes.com/2007/09/13/asian-cabbage-salad/

fave slaw

My husband makes this slaw: http://coconutlime.blogspot.com/2007/04/gingered-coleslaw.html it has ginger and sesame in it. He based it off his memories of the slaw at the Salt Lick in TX.

check out my recipe blog, Coconut & Lime, my cooking review/tips site Food Maven.

Thanks for sharing!

My brother makes a salad just like that too and I love it. Now I wonder if that's where he found it.

I think so!

The whole time I was writing this I wondered why (it seems to me) there is so much increased interest in cabbage. Maybe it's the cruciferous vegetable thing? But it certainly seems to be the new mesclun, you're right about that!

What a tasty bevy of beautiful summer slaws! Could it be? Is cabbage the new mesclun?

I have been making a variation on this recipe from Epicurious for years. It's always a big hit!
