THe L'Oreal pots. I have one in "Savory" (WHAT IS UP WITH THESE NAMES?) and I think it's great; perfect consistency, color, and scent. Also, I love the little glass pot (as opposed to a plastic one). It makes it seem more posh, somehow...you know?

I have tried many, many powders. And always go back to plain old Cover Girl loose powder. I'm fair, so I use the lightest one. It doesn't make me look like a ghost. And you can use as much or little of it as you want.

And I'm one of those over 35s that still spends too much time on her morning routine. I'm up at 6:40 am and out of the house by 8:30am. My current make-up of choice is Luminess air brush mineral makeup. Love, love love it! Way too expensive, but it's natural and makes me *glow*. Doesn't get cakey, looks so natural and is very easy to apply. Highly recommended. Especially if you like matte finishes (I do).

Great post Metalia, and brave you for proving on video that it really can be done in 5 mins!

I have been known to wander out to pick up grocery etc with NO makeup at all. It's just the morning going to work stuff that I spend time on.

Okay, just one more question the I PROMISE I'll leave you alone :) Since you're such a fan of Amazing Cos. concealer, have you heard anything about their mineral powder? That was the powder I was about to buy, but it seemed like you and slynnro recommend pressed powders instead. Thoughts? THANKS!!

That is TOO funny. Once, my husband put on some of my lipgloss in the car because his lips were SOOO dry and we didn't have any chapstick (only time that's EVER happened). But it was wiped off pretty quickly, too. My dad -- NEVER.

Oooh, I love Lip Venom too! I went through an obsession with the gloss in "tulip." I was trying to explain to my dad how it "tingles" but apparently I wasn't explaining very well, because he said "oh let me just try it." There's nothing funnier than seeing your dad delicately apply lip gloss, trust me. Even when he rubs it right off again.

Ha! Good catch, Carrisa -- it's all fixed now. Cover Girl Lip Slicks are NUMBER ONE!

And Kristen, I've never noticed the smell at ALL -- in fact I just had to take out my Lip Slick and smell it after I read your comment, just to make sure. But they must have changed the fragrance or something, because it doesn't smell like much at all to me! A liiiiiiiiiiiitle lipsticky, perhaps, but nothing too bad.

And I took your advice long ago on the lipslicks. They are ineeded fabulous. I hate sticky lips. Which is why I gave up on Victoria Secret lipgloss. Their colors are great but the sticky is just too much!

I might try that HIP stuff though.

I love the way the LipSlicks look, and they feel fine, but I couldn't handle the scent. It smelled "lipstick-y" to me. But maybe they've changed it recently -- I guess for $4, it's not such a big deal to give it a try, right?

...for, above all else, not mercilessly mocking my little home video. As for powders, I currently use Nars pressed powder, though I wouldn't recommend it. It's not that it's bad, it's just...okay. I received it as a gift, so I use it, but it's nothing AMAZING, you know? My favorite powder around is M.A.C. Studio Fix, hands down.

I also called in a consultation from my friend Slynnro, a fellow product junkie (with incredible, glowing skin), and she recommended the following powders: Clinique Stay Matte, Maybelline Dream Matte, Fresh's powder (which I believe is called Face Luster), and Estee Lauder Double Wear.

While the product is important, the brush you choose to apply the powder (and any other product requring application with a brush) is also VERY important. I have my favorites (after MUCH trial and error), and they run the gamut from Target to Bobbi Brown. Hmm. I sense a topic for a future post brewing! :)

I second, amylg, and need some powder direction! I have the same light golden skin color, but all the powders I've found made me look ghostly!? I'm about to place my Sephora order and would love to get something worthwhile.

I may not do jazz hands after putting on make-up, but I always end with "Go get 'em, tiger" and a wink...ha, ha ;)

Metalia- Thank you so much for sharing your morning routine! I am very impressed and have started trying to get my routine down to the basics as well, since I have a 21 month old and a 3 month old. It's a little nuts in the morning! I have learned the shower at night technique as well, and yes, it is quite fun to see how poofy my hair is or is not the next day. :)

Can you tell me what kind of powder you use? I have been looking around for a good one and haven't yet committed to anything. Thanks!
