I always wanted a good kid

I always wanted a good kid to come up and kick the boy in the shins, or a large branch to fall on his head.

That being said, I can identify with both. I have been the tree in my personal life for years, but also concede that I can be the selfish kid too. Every time I make a choice that harms the earth, using plastic or buying water bottles or any of the myriad wasteful choices I can make on any given day, I am that bratty kid.

That tree reminded me of my mother and my grandmother, two wonderful women who both gave and gave and gave at the expense of themselves, to a little bastard known as my uncle. My mom gave to little bastards outside of our family as well. I grew up resolute that I would not be the tree!!!

I guess in a way I'm wanting it to be both. I'm finding it difficult to be completely stripped of all privacy when it comes to our son however. I think that's just where my boundary will be. Sometimes I think I'm trying to do both professional and personal. Time will tell...maybe I'll have to start a second one...some time VERY far down the line.

I've just been to your blog: I love the aromatherapy theraphy dishes!

I just got back from the Blogher DC conference and I can tell you that thinking about one's goal is key. The take away from the "experts" (that would be all of us in the room): if it's a personal blog, don't worry about what the people want, but if it's a professional blog, then put your readers/customers foremost.

I think sometimes I can get caught up wondering what readers are looking for in my blog and in trying to give them what I think they're expecting. Keeping on that route will only ruin whatever my blog is to become, as well as the feel of my posts.

I blog (write) about what I think is interesting--to me--and hope that others will find my posts interesting too. I do humor (I seem to have an underpants obsession), and depressing (analyzing my now over abusive marriage and still difficult divorce), and inspirational (with questions of the day to find the joy). This is the place I can be me, in all of my voices--and embrace all of those voices, too.
