Maxwell's rendition of "This Woman's Work" is actually a beautiful cover of the very beautiful original by Kate Bush. I get a little misty-eyed every time I hear either version.

I did, in the end, prefer Kayla to Jeanine. And liked Brandon a bit better than either of them. I was just really really glad Evan didn't win. He's no Benji indeed!

I'm glad you enjoyed my recaps, and this season!

I think my issue with Evan is that while he worked as hard as he could, he just couldn't get to the level of the rest of the competition, but he still kept passing through to the next round while more talented dancers were sent home. Phillip was the same way, with the additional disadvantage of not having any formal training at all -- he's phenomenal in his own style, but the competition requires you to go beyond and push yourself, always. That said, I'm so happy they brought back Phillip to dance that first dance again for the finale with Jeanine -- that really was their best piece, and it must have meant so much to both of them to dance together again.

I actually missed the first time the Melissa and Ade "This Woman's Worth" piece aired -- I was traveling to Chicago for BlogHer '09, and I totally missed the whole episode! I'm glad they danced it again for the finale and gave me the opportunity to see it; it really was touching.

I thank you for writing about the show. I love the show, but yet when I have something to say I go to Blogher and then all else doesn't matter (lol). I love Brandon. He's a star no matter what. The rest of them are all good. I'm not digging Evan too much I don't think. He's just plain to me or maybe I don't appreciate the dance that is his main genre. I have to tell you, when Phillip got voted off it was really hard for me (and my husband). We were rooting for him since day one. I remember him and Jeanine danced the first song of the whole show and I cried. I mean, literally cried real tears and needed a tissue and to blow my nose. I was so moved because it was meaningful and beautiful. I love to dance and they touched my heart to what it's all about. I loved the episode when the couple danced to Maxwell's song "This Woman's Worth" and the dance was about surviving breast cancer. Everyone cried and rightfully so. I got married to that song so it was extra special to me and extra special to ones who have a cancer survivor or a cancer patient that has already passed. It was the best performance on the show.

No real preference between M and K for me

I like Melissa better as a performer, but I know Kayla is objectively a better dancer. I like Melissa's personality and I look forward to her dancing, while Kayla leaves me cold and I'm never wowed or excited by her. Two different dancers!

If Jeanine doesn't get at least the Best Girl Prize that Katee got last year, I am done with SYTYCD.

And yes, Janette should be up there!

The thing I'm surprised about is that I don't see anyone standing out as a real frontrunner to win! Anyone, as long as they keep dancing at the top of their game, could have a shot.

You're totally right Debbie and Elisa, he can't hack it. But he was such an entertainer. Much more fun than boring Jason.

Of the women I did think Caitlin should go -- but then I am a fan of both Melissa and Jeanine (even in that horrendous dress).

I love watching her dance. I think I would have picked her over Melissa if it were up to me. I'm glad she still gets to be on the tour. I like Philip but he needed to leave. His lack of training shows through in non-hip hop routines. Glad he gets to tour though -- that was a nice surprise for both of them.
