I'm a little burnt out of the Tabitha-and-Napoleon "they're in love/fighting/he's going away and she is sad" hip-hop, which is why I was glad to see the shadow concept from Shane -- I don't need a story, but I do need good dancing!

And now we don't really have any male ballroom dancers -- Jonathan's a Latin dancer, but not that great at it (hitting the bottom for the cha cha, which is his own style, then Mary squealing over how he's better at contemporary). Other than Jonathan and Evan, the rest are all contemporary/hip-hop, I'm pretty sure.

I hope this isn't the producers trying to get Kupono to be this year's Mark -- I felt they often overlooked Mark (never pairing him with Katee in the top 10, for example), but I don't need them to try to fix that by keeping Kupono longer than they should.

Even though they were one of the worst of the night, I was pretty sure that Philip's popularity would keep them out of the bottom three. And even if they did manage to hit the bottom, there was no way the judges would let Philip go this early, either, especially since he's a rockstar when it comes to his solos.

It's no big surprise that Shane's two routines hit the bottom, but the third bottom couple (and who ultimately went home) was!

Kupono Should Have Gone Home

I'm afraid the judges just want every hip hop routine to be some sort
of emotional story when Shane's work is clearly hard core dance. Its so great to have him back, but the judges need to recognize the strength in his routines as well and not just respond to soft, mushy stuff.

I really feel that Ashley did such a better job than Kupono and agree with your assessment that Shane should have seen that in practice and made her the lead of the dance. She had great musicality and didn't miss a beat. What I don't understand is how she is sent home yet they kept Kupono who is just not strong at all. Especially his solo! That was tragic. So he's quirky...this is a dance competition and Max is not only a hard worker, he's better at all of it than Kupono. My opinion is that Kupono's poor performance put them into the bottom three and that should not have been overlooked nor Ashley punished for it alone. She was the weakest of three crazy strong women, so from here on out it will be a tremendous battle.

Bad move judges...please don't keep quirky over great dancing.

Philip's popularity outweighs his skill

OK - so I have the benefit of knowing the results but I said yesterday (before the show) that Philip would be safe (and thus, so would Jeannine) because of his fan base. He's really talented, when it comes to his own style and clearly a smart, thoughtful guy but does not have the breadth needed to get very far.

The fans are not ready to see him go, though.

Neither one of his routines went well. I actually was one of those who liked the Falling Slowly dance. And I missed the first one, the Jive. But heard the judges' critiques.

Your bottom 3 sounds reasonable, and if those are them I'm guessing the judges will toss out:

Kupono and Jeannine

Granted, that's a pretty foul idea for a show, but did any of y'all notice that this program is on WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT Television?

Apparently, some Executive Producer out there thought that this would be a show that women would enjoy watching. It's not like it's on Spike TV and it's a big joke or something. I'd be interested to hear what the logic was in putting this show on a channel targeted towards women.

I completely disagree with all of you playing the victim card. Firstly this is a show and the women don't have to sign on they can refuse to participate. They do it because they feel they have a problem. There is nothing wrong with being over weight if that's how you want to look but it is extremely unhealthy how dare a husband want to have his wife around for years to come. To understand why someone overeats and what they're weaknesses are you'd have to "stalk" them. I don't find the show interesting but I don't think the producers host or netwrok should be ashamed.

Love this post

I'm glad someone has the nerve to come out and say she hates and loves The Hills. I watch it when my boyfriend is not around and I just like taking in the glamorous LA lifestyle. The conversations are banal at best but there is something trashy and addictive about the whole machine. I thought The City had the same formula and I've to say I enjoyed watching Whitney navigate her way around fabulous New York. LOL!

It's also the Show about Eating

What I've noticed about the Hills (and yes, if it were on for a marathon all day and I had nothing else to do and my boyfriend was out of the house- I would totally watch the entire thing), is that they just go out and eat all the time. Whether its a smoothie at noon or a salad at 4 or a drink at 8 - its the show about eating. It's like non-stop eating and drinking and yet they are all super skinny. I didn't realize this until watching The Soup one day and he put together a series of clips that were just the girls out to eat or drink. That was it. It's like the producers just tell them to go out and eat everytime there is something to gossip about. Insane.

and I'm up for new shows and all however the thought off watching spoiled, immature people complain about their lifes. I just can't watch this show. Whats weird is I can watch all the other crazy shows like "New York goes to work" and "Daisy of Love". I think I just watch those shows to make me feel better and to lauph at how crazy they sound but I still can't watch "The Hills".

Silly girls in serious fashion

If everybody/place/thing didn't look so amazing at all times, I think we would be less fascinated by "The Hills". Certain image overdoses notwithstanding, they tend to look better than most people. We might not want to admit it, but we love that!

We love the idea of always looking exactly how you want to look at all times, of endless shopping sprees and impeccable manicure maintenance. Most of us have no idea what it's like to have that kind of control over our appearance. Even if their style choices are not ones you would make for yourself, you know that they have the luxury of, um, ALL DAY to shower, shop, and get ready. Their full-time occupation is self-styling.Depending on where you live and who you run with, it is rare for the average chick to be exposed to so many experimental accessory combinations and neo-hippie hairstyles on the day to day.

If you were to watch the show on mute, it would probably just look like a fashion editorial in movie form. Predictable plotlines and fantasy "work" outfits included!
