hi A.A

I know - I'm being a heavyweight write-something-for-the-hell-of-it kind of person... I wouldn't be offended either; pirates and kids go together like gummy sweets and e-numbers, and I wouldn't deprive my son of holding a pirate party or attending one. I just thought it was interesting, though, how some things are romanticised - and probably a good thing, too, or we'll all be paralysed by PC-ness. THanks for reading and commenting.

Humourous take on a serious

Humourous take on a serious subject. I can see your point about not having a Charles Manson shindig and the likes, but I would still have a pirate party. I don't think any parents would be upset by the idea even with the current events surrounding piracy.

One Of The Great Things About A Next Generation POTUS

One of the great things about having a next generation President is that he's kept up with the advances in social media and how to use those tools to maintain contact with the public.

As you say, with the media going through such drastic changes, any politician that wants to keep up better get with the internet program.

Good Move

I think that this is a great move for Obama. It is important, especially in our current economic state, for our president to talk to us. You know the average American. If you think about it there is no better move he can make.

Less and less people buy the newspaper or even watcxh television. With the internet growing more and more every day I think that it is vital for a president not to ignore this. By addressing people in multi media fashion Obama is assuring that his message is heard not only by the odler genteration who reads newspapers but also to the young voters who were so moved in voting for him. By entering into the new YouTube era this persident is assuring that the young adults in America feel just as important to the betterment of this nation then the older generations.

Moderation

This post makes it clear why we need calcuim. A word of caution though: from what I've been reading, too much calcium while you're pregnant can put you at major risk of kidney stones. Just a small reminder that moderation is always the best course of action. Sadly, life has no "miracle foods" for us to find. =)

Kids and calcium

My children and myself do not drink much milk, but we get our calcium in other ways such as yogert and cheese. It hasn't helped me much because I still have osteoporous.

We are doing OK

I refuse to count anything when it comes to food - calories, mgs - it takes the fun out of eating. But the kids and I drink 2 glasses of milk each day and have some cheese or yogurt for snack. So I think we're doing OK.

As we age we absorb less calcium

This really speaks to the importance of developing good eating habits beginning at a young age. If we don't, we may find ourselves among the many women and some men who end up taking the not so effective prescription drugs to ward off broken bones later on in life.

It's also what you DON'T eat

Yes, eating dairy bring calcium into your system. So do leafy greens and even almonds. But consuming meat or caffeine can have the opposite affect, leeching calcium out of your body.

I'm with you

Well said. Because of my circumstances, I want congress to approve a loan, but it's not in my hands to decide where this goes. I can argue my point and share my hopes with God, but I need to pray that I'm on God's side -- not convince Him to be on mine. Thanks.

It will be such a different presidency with this man.

Direct and clear communication, clear and intelligent thought and his growing number of advisors seem equal to him. This gives much hope.

Kind regards,

A Good Sign For The Future

Hi Chaka,

It's a good sign for the future that so many young people are invested in politics right now because of Obama. And I agree, the people who aren't using technology yet need to be remembered as well.

Who knows? Obama's election may get people involved in technology who might not have felt a need to be before.

I love the way he has reached out - just don't forget about the folks that don't use technology. But I love seeing the way younger people are so tuned into what's happening..

And yes, several BlogHers wrote posts about the whole Motrin ad thing. If you do a BlogHer search (upper right hand corner of this page) for "Motrin" you'll see them.
