Former vice-presidential

Former vice-presidential candidatate Sarah Palin has been interviewed by Runner's World Magazine for the August issue of the magazine. The interview took place just recently after she announced her resignation for the governorship of Alaska. The Sarah Palin Runner's World interview is getting attention especially since the news broke just after it ran that Palin Quits, as governor of Alaska, same as the Palin Vanity Fair spread. Some claim it's so she can concentrate on a Palin 2012 run for President. Her comments in the articles get a bit confusing – although many people have come close to throwing unsecured loans into distilling anything Palin has said into something that resembles a statement that makes sense. Still, a lot of people might look into pay day loans to get their own copy of the Sarah Palin Runners' World interview.

What A Great Look Back

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks so much for this great look back at the year in feminism and for including my observations.

I hope that all women, conservative and liberal can learn from the lessons of this year's election and move forward emphasizing what we have in common instead of our differences.

I'm honored that you'd include me in this most fabulous list and post! There is so much food for thought as we move into 2009 and a new administration.

I'm trying not to think about that. I'm hoping to start the year on a better note, like with Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act being signed into law, and all the evil new HHS rules being reversed (is that like unsigning?). But, I suppose fodder is fodder.

Thanks for all your great posts this year, Jill!

This is a great reminder of where we've been this year, Suzanne. Thank you very much for including it. Thank goodness if Rick Warren hangs in there as the invocation speaker, you know you'll have something to start off 2009 with!

What Color is her Lipstick?

What most bothers me (alright, one of the things that bothers me) about Palin is that she is so comfortable attacking someone else, putting other people down, whether it's a specific person or a whole group of people. That narrow-mindedness is numbing.

Her latest peek into her understanding, that her first amendment right is being infringed upon because she is being criticized is perhaps the scariest thing that she has uttered. Basically, she really does mean my way or the highway. Was Bush so blunt on the campaign trail? Could you imagine this after Bush? It really is a slide into 1984 in the 21st century.

I have never understood how policiticans can keep putting down politics and government. Shouldn't they look for another line of work? I mean how hypocritical?

(Her color: would it be blood red?)

Laura, www.RebelliousThoughtsofaWoman.com

a tragic reality check

The assassin ation attempt was part of a larger planned spree, accoring to the news this morning -- which would have left over 100 dead.

The Southern Poverty law Center has this to say (and more)One of the suspects, Cowart, is a known member of a new skinhead hate group, the Supreme White Alliance (SWA), formed at the beginning of 2008, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. He attended a Hitler’s Birthday party held last April by the group.SWA is headed by Steven Edwards, son of Ron Edwards, who leads the Imperial Klans of America.

You raise an excellent point about how we usually judge without noticing. The dynamics of racism are both deliberate and assumptive -- some people say things deliberately to fan the hidden flames, and others just assume that what they say is acceptable. In any case, it is a complex thing, and worthy of calling up into the light for fair and healing discussion.

As you so accurately say -- -it's about healing.

hopelessness?

I take your point that there has been a focus (as in a few articles) on race. I think that is a good thing. For me, I take great hope in the fact that we ARE discussing the issue, as opposed to letting it be the rhino in the livingroom that no one talks about but that everyone knows is there.

Thanks for mentioning the diversity at the Obama rallies. It is true. And it is good.

finally some diversity at blogher

I have noticed the focus of race in many of boghers blogs as well.

If you look you will find negatives in any campaign, thats politics.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I see diversity at Obama rally's.

It's beautiful and needs a little more recognition.

For a campaign based on hope I see a lot of focus on hopelessness.

Particularly disturbing is the news today that ATF has foiled an assassination attempt against Obama and other black leaders by skinheads.
