I guess when religion, politics, ethics, and culture intersect, the traffic at the crossroads gets heavy, the congestion dense, and the heated opinions fly. I still think it's a scary hate full bumpersticker, I don't think I lack a snarky sense of humor, and I don't think all conservative Christians are bad, that it is perfectly possible to take the Bible literally and actually pay attention to the commandments to love, not to judge, and to tell the truth.

... a lot of it, actually. Just ask the Young Survival Coalition, and the Mothers With Cancer. I am very concerned that the new recommendations will allow us to feel that it's ok to slack off and take "get mammogram" or "check breasts" off our ever-expanding to-do lists.... and that's dangerous.

Trust me, friends, it takes a lot less time to do a breast self-exam and get a screening mammogram than it does to wipe off your schedule for 6 months for chemo, mastectomy and recovery, and another 2 months of radiation. Please take care of yourselves.

Or Norma a more telling question to ask is what is it you would like the government to " protect and defend ?? Which is fine to look at and I wonder what you see is the "will to fight' and what winning means to you as a citizen and does it benefit the whole.......It would be genuinely interesting to know what you see as using resources effectivelly?

I gather health care is something that deeply concerns you and I get the sense you FEEL that you are about to miss out or be abandoned in this regard ??... With respect I wonder whether you have lived in a war zone and seen the health care system in the countries America is at war with...

Yeah i just read a press release from the New York Times that suggests American women should only start having papsmears at 21 and of course raising the age for women to 50 not forty for breast cancer tests .. i suggest they are discussing what's in and what's out with Health coverage for women .. That is worth you state side girls shaking the cage about .. Very ominous ideas indeed ,,,,One needs to ask who is putting forward this stuff and how are they valuing women's health at ALL ages!!

Responsibilities, not roles

When my ex wanted to move to fully shared custody after 2 years of only 25% custody, it worked. Money-wise and, most importantly, for the kids. Yet I had enormous resistance from family about allowing this. As though I was surrendering the kids to the seventh circle of hell. He was a lousy husband, but remains a delightful father.

We need a societal paradigm shift that addresses responsibilities, *not* roles. The most unconventional solutions can work, if the parties are willing and the children are central to the discussion.
