Photo Books Are a Long Lasting Option

As they say-“nothing but memory remains”, so gifting a photo book is definitely a good idea. It’s not only easy to make but quite affordable as well. There are quite a few tools that let you create and publish your photo books online as well offline. Though not as interesting as making one by yourself, it is equally interesting to create/design a digital photo book yourself and then have it printed.

Photo Books by Smilebooks.com

I Love My Video Games

My family (okay, my parents) bought my brothers and me the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) years ago. I believe we still have it at the house... plugged into the tv in case my eldest brother wants to play his Nobunaga's Ambition, which is a very addictive strategy game.

My other brother loved Tetris and Dragon Warrior. I was able to get some weird games, like Shadowgate and The Uninvited, which were games like puzzles but you followed clues around the game and solved puzzles to keep going. Then I got hooked on Dragon Warrior so I got II, III, and IV.

Since moving out, I ended up with Fable and a used Xbox... which is another RPG. I then got a Playstation 2 with DragonQuest VIII for Christmas. I also got Guitar Hero and American Idol, and Okami. These games are great fun and very entertaining. I've tried Grand Theft Auto but can't seem to enjoy it. Not one bit and I am concerned about the violence that kids can do on "people" in the game. Kids are impressionable... I don't think they can completely distinguish between reality and a game... just like some kids (teens in particular) can't distinguish between a show that is Pro Wrestling and reality.

We now have a Wii and Wii Fit, which is really fun. We also have new dogs so playing the games have become few and far between. Hopefully, once the dogs are trained a little more, we can get back to the Wii Fit and play. Of course, the dogs help us with the fitness more than the Wii Fit does right now. :)

------------

I work for money - I blog for fun. I wish it was the other way around...

Thrift stores are awesome

My husband and I got a great rug, I got half my winter sweaters, a cool scarf, a couple pairs of pants, a crazy number of books, a lamp, a funky wall hanging for our dining area wall, a really cool guy's hoodie that looks good on me, a flatware set orginally from Kohls, a set of knives, Christmas decorations for our house, an awesome teapot that is really cute, a cover for our daybed in our guest room, a nice sheet set for our bedroom, and various odds and ends from the thrift stores we've visited. It is always fun to look around in that store, and this store not far from home where it's set up like a flea market. They have all sorts of things there. Many times we do find items with tags still attached, and some of the purchases we've made have gone to benefit poor familes and children. One store was raising money for a child who needed a new specially made wheelchair, and it felt good to give toward that. :)

I'm not sure, but I think it's even more romantic the pumpkin and possibly the socks.

Are you a soda person?

I suspect that will determine whether you like the soda flavors. I hate sodas and I find the soda flavors sickly sweet. But then I find all sodas sickly sweet. The soda nuts among my friends liked them, or thought they were close enough for rock and roll.

A warning! Always add the flavoring AFTER you've carbonated the water. Otherwise you'll have a sticky mess inside your Penguin.

for this for the holidays for the last 6 weeks. I'm a water person myself but do you have any feedback on the soda flavors? If they are tasty my arguments may have more weight ... Thanks!

How I Live Now

Read it! Well...listened to it on audio which is almost the same thing. I've also been hearing very good things about Michael Grant's Gone.

I told one of my friends that she wasn't allowed to read Life as We Knew It because she'd never sleep again. Pfeffer switched to a third-person narrative in The Dead and the Gone and I think she lost a bit in it but it still had me freaking out about a crank radio so clearly it still had an impact.
Great post!

I'm reading Little Brother right now after rave reviews from anyone I know, although I'm not far at all.

I, too, loved Life As We Knew It, but haven't read the companion book. If you loved this, you should also check out How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. Why am I so fascinating by global destruction?

A book I've given as a gift many times, to teen and adults alike, is Markus Zusak's wonderful The Book Thief.

I'm going to go on record and say, given a snow day with zero responsibilities, I can think of nothing lovelier than knocking out a few YA novels curled up on the couch.
