I have to admit that my Roomba is a busy woman's best friend. However, my dog is't a fan. He likes to bark at Roomba. My dog eschews clean.

Asimov's three laws

Let's hope these mutant robots know about Isaac Asimov's 3 laws of robotics. Otherwise, I'd urge everyone to attempt to keep their Pleo from walking off any tables.

K-12 Literature on iTunes U

One of the sites within iTunes U is Lit2Go from the USF College of Education. It is a great resource of K-12 stories and poems. You can download the audio and print the accompanying text files to read along as you listen to the podcast. They are categorized by grade level and there are also some stories in Spanish.

Pleo

Liz has been talking about Pleo and we vetoed it at our house - too expensive and too many robotic toys have been purchased here in the past and they've usually been a bust.

But, at her father's house, they celebrate a Hanukkah/Christmas combo and Liz received a Pleo this weekend. She informed us yesterday that it walked off the table and now makes noises it was not intended to make. Hah. Accidental upgrade?

What I love about having an iPhone are the great app's. My favorites are:

Urban Spoon

Pandora

Zhiing

Facebook

They are all free and helpful.

I get new music

ideas from the radio, too. Often someone Terry Gross interviews on Fresh Air or someone I learn about from All Songs Considered. Listening to the radio while sitting at the computer is especially hazardous to my budget, because I can open iTunes and buy music before the radio spot is even finished.

When my built-in 6-cd

When my built-in 6-cd changer ate one of my CDs, I replaced it with a single-cd player that had an MP3 input jack. I don't listen to my iPod through the earphones any longer (having hearing problems), so I now have a desktop iPod player for home, and the CD plug-in for playing the iPod in the car.

Haven't touched an audio CD in months, probably years.

However, I do still listen to radio on short trips, so I can discover new music and new artists...or hear that first Christmas song being played on Halloween.

Now, about that chocolate chip recipe...

Yes

For my job here in Europe we have to use rental cars all the time for traveling to other sites. Some of the stereos have standard USB port inputs that will read mp3s, which is super convenient for myself and all my other geeky co-workers.

Just this week my boyfriend got a rental for a trip and it didn't have any of the new adapters so we went old school and burned a CD with some of his favorite mp3s.

Tumblr

I don't know how you and Professor Kim save things you want to go back to again, but I have been using Tumblr lately. You can save things to an account there with notes and tags. It helps you find things when you ready to go back to it.

I often save a bunch of links there when I'm researching an idea. It really saves time when I'm ready to put things together.
