This is my fourth NaBloPoMo year!

I've managed to complete it successfully every year so far (never won anything, but it's not about that for me). These days, I use it to try to kick-start myself to post more often. I may be one of those people who is running out of things to say.

Love It

I have succeeded on my main blog every year. I tried, one year, to blog everyday on three blogs. That didn't work. So I just concentrate on Stop, Drop & Blog for the everydayness of it all. Note: I gave birth in November 2007 and still succeeded.

That said, I find the NaBloPoMo site to be very hard to navigate. Too many tabs! I didn't even know that there was a blogroll page. Off to add.

@FireMom from Stop, Drop and Blog and The Chronicles of Munchkin Land

I did it once and never again

Three years ago I did NaBloPoMo (http://semanticallydriven.com/2006/11) and I still struggle with the acronym. It was a real struggle and even though I had a vague plan I'd recommend something more than just a vague plan as it was taxing to post every day when you have other commitments. One day I may partake again but life just gets busier. I did this before the days of Twitter and Facebook too!

Jen at Semantically driven

One other thing to consider

There's another aspect of this thing I hope you do better than another blog site I read. I would caution you against "bloggers" who post blogs that echo and/or support the content on their own, commercial (paying) websites, or that promote the products or services that pay for advertising on those sites. There is one in particular who dubiously uses professional clout to push a personal/professional agenda and generally makes the blog into an advertisement for him/herself and his/her other site(s). It may or may not be a gray area, but it's worth considering.

Wow - getting invited to re-connect with someone who passed on, now that is one very spooky email. Similar but not as bad as receiving a letter I wrote to a friend that was returned to sender (me) about 2 weeks after his funeral.....that was a sad moment indeed.

Paula Gregorowicz
The Paula G Company
http://www.thepaulagcompany.com

Learn 5 Steps to Move from Fear to Freedom (free)

Facebook Struggling To Deal With This

I had never even thought about this issue before reading your post, it was a real eye-opener. Coincidentally I have just been seeing some complaints regarding Facebook's "reconnect" feature they have been highlighting lately. People are complaining because Facebook is suggesting they 'reconnect' with people that have passed away. So clearly there needs to be a better mechanism in place to deal with this issue. Thanks for raising this issue and for the resources you provide.

Lucy

Hi -

I try to read all posts not just the editor posts when I log on. I'm relatively new to Blogher as well.

Totally agree on the Eerie thing, to a degree, nice memorial, but on the other hand....

And what happens if/when these sites sink in with longevity and there are more accounts/people affected with passing away. Just an interesting thought

Paula Gregorowicz
The Paula G Company
http://www.thepaulagcompany.com

Learn 5 Steps to Move from Fear to Freedom (free)
