I almost included that in this post! I have a lipstick that I bought for prom (yes, that was a LONG time ago), and it's gorgeous (and Lancome, I think). Of course, it's discontinued, and I wear lipstick so infrequently that it's not even half gone. I just scrape off the top layer and apply it, and it still totally works. And so far, I'm still alive and kicking and free of lip fungus!

You know all those guidelines about how long to keep cosmetics? Yeah. I, uh, don't really listen to them. Like at all. I AM fastidious with my makeup brushes, though, so, that cancels out The Gross, right? RIGHT?

1. I tried the white pencil trick, too, and felt like I looked like I was trying out for a spot on The Girls Next Door. Or trying to look like Christina Aguilera.

Then I read - in countless magazines - that makeup artists use a nude, not white, pencil for more natural results. So I searched for one, and found there was not a nude pencil to be found in any mall, Ulta, Sephora, Sally Beauty Supply and drugstore on the East Coast. So I finally dropped $16 on Pixi Eye Bright Liner No. 1 in Nude. Truth be told? It works. It's subtle, and I probably could live without it. But it does takes the edge off the redness that comes with extra sleepy-looking eyes. It'll last forever, too, because I don't use it everyday - only on days where I'm looking like I attempted to party like Kendra, Holly, and Bridget the night before.

And I enthusiastically second the Laura Mercier concealer. I use the Undercover Pot (the one with two types of concealer and a little bit of setting powder). Dropping that much on concealer makes me cringe, but when I use it I'm downright amazed at the results. It conceals without that chalky "hey, look at me wearing concealer!" look - that alone makes it worth the price. (I've invested in it twice, now.)

(And for what it's worth, I'm 37. I've had that long to road test bad concealers and such.)

I'm glad it's not just me who finds showering a chore. I like the end results of being clean and looking nice, but all that getting wet, washing up, rinsing and repeating, shaving, exfoliating, drying off, applying of lotions, fixing of hair... It's so time consuming. (And I'm pretty fast, for a girl.)

I wash my hair about every other day. I was told by a stylist that if I insist on using cheap shampoo, I should at least use it as little as possible. I color my own hair and blow dry it often, and I get complements from professionals on how healthy it is. I'm sure it's from not overdoing it with the washing.

I've cut back on the hairwashing, too. It strips your hair of its natural oils, and then your scalp tries to compensate by generating more oil. I used to have to wash my hair every day, but now I only wash it a few times a week and it still doesn't get as oily as it used to if I skipped just one day. There's a movement where some people don't wash their hair at all --they're called no-pooers (seriously!). I don't think I could go that far, but ironing... I've given that up completely.

I spray down a an article of clothing that I have worn a few times and not yet washed with fabreeze and throw it in the dryer, which makes it come out smelling and looking clean. Good way to fake it.

I don't wash my hair more than 3 times a week either. The woman who does my hair - and charges a lot for the coloring - says that it actually makes your hair healthier. So, this time, being lazy pays off!

I knew it wasn't just me! And it does make things so easy -- most days I wake up and, honestly, my hair is pretty much good to go, which was never the case when I washed it on a daily basis.

I don't wash my hair that often

On an average week I'd say 2-3 times. My hair seems happier. And I rarely use styling products. And I rarely wear makeup. I used to wear it daily but I got used to working at home and well, I'm lazy. So now even though I don't work from home I still don't wear it. Life is so much easier. No make up in the mornings, only have to do my hair once or twice during the work week. There's no real rush to get out the door in the mornings.

Ladies, ladies, PLEASE be careful about which products you fall in love with at VS. I once discovered a glorious lotion called Exotic Bouquet, and then one day, without warning, it was gone from the shelves never to be replaced. For several years I held out hope that it may return, to no such avail. I have been weary of VS beauty products ever since. On the other hand, I ADORE the lovely sales ladies clad in black pant suits and skirts; simply because they have decided that my otherwise size 32A breasts are worthy of the wondrous B label. Bless them for that.

I'm all for VS carrying make-up. On a few occasional weak moments, I have actually wandered into one of their stores looking for a sexy bra. I am a large woman, but not necessarily overweight. However, I tried every style they carried, and thought I wear a "normal" size bra, they had nothing that made me look exactly sexy. I might try the make-up sometime!

I really just don't see the appeal. That is, for the wearer. I can totally see why thongs are America's favorite spectator sport.

But I mean, yes, visible panty line is bad. But is avoiding it worth giving yourself a wedgie?

Which is why I was so pleasantly surprised by the makeup. Because I may wear granny pants, but I do love me some makeup.
