Nice to know I'm not alone

Thank you for your comment, Kim. Sometimes I love being a woman. It's FUN to go from wearing sweats and kickboxing gear one day, to 3" heels and a killer red dress the next. (: But that duality gets really confusing when it goes deeper than that. I am still learning my 'blogher' ways, but I will be writing. And not your typical sugar sweet stuff that more or less makes me want to hurt somebody. Please join me. (:

Luv, Lila

I can totally relate. I want to hear more. Sometimes, trying to be, look and act perfect can push us over the edge. I feel for you.

Do you drink Diet Pop?

As someone who has been plagued with hormonal insomnia ( I started waking up at 3:00 am sharp the moment I got pregnant both times) and pre-menopause was years of being up at 3:00-- I found that cutting out aspartame made a huge difference.
I love my diet coke but haven't had one in two years. Do I still wake up in the middel of the night...many times. The difference is now I can fall back to sleep, if I choose.

my top hints for sleeplessness

Here are my top tips for sleeplessness. It doesn't matter if you do this on the beginning end of sleep or when it is interrupted.

1. If you are running a theme park in your head -- i.e. worrying about the same thing over and over -- then face the thing. (Easy for me to say.)

2. Try getting the room quite cool. Take a hot shower. Walk into the cool room. Snuggle under covers. Snuggling is sleep inducing in a cold room.

3. Put your body to restfulness one part at a time...i am letting my toes relax..then relax them. I am letting the balls of my feet relax ..then relax them ..etc. This will either relax you or bore you to sleep. Either way you win.

4. Try a hot toddy of milk, almond extract, a big dollop of honey . Heat this up and sprinkle with nutmeg. Even people who hate warm milk, love this. Toss down a couple of calcium pills at the same time. Calcium is sleep inducing.

5. Before you fall asleep tell your body when you want it to awaken. (I know this sounds odd, but it often works.)
