Happy Thanksgiving!

I agree that Thanksgiving is the forgotten holiday and I too am trying best not to let that happen. I have written a month long series about planning, preparing for and why you should have a Thanksgiving party (can be included in Thansgiving Dinner or not ) on my other blog http://www.weeklynicheideas.com.

Thankful Everyday

This is such a great post! A few days ago I noticed that many of my friends have been doing a thankful Facebook status every day (I've been doing it on Twitter), so we each have reminder that there is a day, though it should be everyday, that we can be grateful for the things/life we have. Its best to put a positive spin on the complaints we have about life because especially in today's society so many are being forced to live without.

What am I thankful for? So many things that if I begin I may have to write a novel.

This is awesome, the 15 min task list is something that I can do for all tasks, not just holiday (I'm thinking honey-do...).

Ownership is not an easy thing to get, not even for us adults I don't think.
You can see it how people leave stuff lying around in shops, they just tramp on clothes fallen of the racks, nobody ever picks them up.

Good for you with your Michelle as well, there is no point in complaining. You either stop moaning or do it and that is very hard to get your head around obviously but when you can the world sure looks different.

I tried to suggest something similar when Michelle and Chris were living together - Michelle wasn't ready to hear it, mostly because it was also a sibling thing. Now that she's living with a bunch of girls, she does still complain when stuff doesn't get done but she's a lot more ready to just jump in and get stuff done rather than complain and hold onto resentment.

I love the 15 minute philosophy! For the last few years I've done all of my personal holiday "to-dos" well before December 1st (as of now I already have the Christmas cards done, addressed and stamped waiting to be mailed!) and my kids are used to making their lists at Halloween because I'm done shopping by Thanksgiving. But the BEST part of being so organized is that I spend most of December shopping off lists for needy children, volunteering at shelters and helping friends get their "to-do's" done. It really makes the holidays FUN and I actually like going into stores because there is no pressure!!

Hi Nordette.

It has been a great journey of exploring what makes sense to me in life and as I am practical these kind of explanations make really sense.
I would like the universe to be like father Christmas and deliver whatever, however somehow that does not sit well with me. As an adult I do have a role to play and this explanation has given me clarity about that.

Thanks ladyfriend. I haven't really let these thoughts bother me since the last time MIL was in town. You're absolutely right though. I know my strenghths, I keep our family balanced. Will be sure to check out Flamingo House Happenings.

Sometimes we all wish we could do more and if we look at it from a different perspective, we can. Just not the type of more we initially focus on. (Did that make any sense or do I need more coffee?)

Knowing what part you play

Hi Sassymonkey

For me it opened an understanding to what part I am playing in creating chaos in my life.
Taking ownership for example has made me do things differently in such a way that I trip less over lose ends.
I used to blame and deny a lot, but although that gave me sympathy from others, I still had to deal with the mess that I created. In the end I thought I might as well do it right the first time and leave the getting sympathy for when I really need it.

It has been an interesting journey alright but it is making my life a lot smoother.

Hi Denise.
Yes, when realizing this was something you do and something that has some consequences I could see how I did create my own trouble. It has been a huge learning curve in which I had to be gentle on myself while having my training wheels on.
