When I was elected full-time president of my teacher's association in 1995, I was terrified of speaking in public. The first few times I had to do it, my knees and voice were both shaking. Eventually though, I got to the point where it was no big deal. Public speaking is something you can learn if you practice it, just like every skill.

Sure, where were you 4 months ago, when I was asked to be on the Moms 2.0 panel at M2Moms Conference in Chicago? Oh wait. You WERE there. In fact, I had the pleasure of speaking with you and your kind words put me at ease, even then, when I felt as if I - not to mention, the organizers - had made a mistake. Public speaking isn't easy - especially, for stressed-out moms like, you know, me - but, it helps to know that not only is imperfection becoming acceptable, it CAN be effective and more helpful than, you know, wearing a power suit.
