YAY Baby Boomers!

I'm with you on the baby boomer show.

This season too many from the sunny,does this bikini make my head look big?, state of CA.

They are following in the footsteps of too many generic cast sitcoms. I want to see REAL diversity, a broad age,shape,size, ethnic mix. Or at least change the ratio to 70:30 in favor of over 40's.

Could I survive? Not in physical challenges against 23 year old "Hunks". But I bet I could if it was NOT a game. I thumbed across the US twice before I was 14, and I survived THAT, hahaha.

Not any more!

I used to think I might have a shot at getting to the "final four," at least. Then there was that season (I forgot where the contestants were) when they had to eat these fertilized egg things? And you could see the curled up half-chicks? Um... No, not even for a million dollars. Blech!

Thanks for writing on this! Love it! Did you know kitsch comes from the German word kitschen meaning to throw together? Hmmm... I love the low class/high class tension that often exists in kitsch. That describes me to a T. I find it so interesting! and brings so much dimension to decorative objects and art. Kitschy, kitschy koo!

All kinds of junk is stored in the brain cells and I keep packing it in. This is beyond the need to learn it is like breathing. I just keep sucking it in.

I'm about a low class as you can get. I like anything that appeals to me and I don't care if it is or isn't in style.

In one of Allie's other videos there was a canned ham. My mother use to buy those type of hams. You needed a really good knife to whack off a piece of meat. It is funny now. I'm sure they have changed the cooking process. You had to put a lot of goop on that ham to get it down your throat.

So I understand why someone would collect an empty canned ham tin. The velvet paintings of the dogs playing poker or Elvis have always cracked me up. I keep meaning to get Elvis but I think he's finally gone out of style for the velvet artists.

The dogs playing poker - no, that I can appreciate from a distance.

Another aspect that you have not mentioned is that there is usually a aspect of classism in what we regard as kitch.

The precious objects of people in a class lower than yours, is often regarded as kitch.

What you say about collecting is true -
And some people take that beyond the physical object, and collect knowledge. Also known as trivia :)

Is trivia the "kitch" of the mind?

My husband wants to try this, but we had no idea where we could rent a houseboat in the middle of the country! We live in Nashville; this isn't too far away. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi and thanks for adding me as a friend! I was trained as an esthtician, so anything related to skincare or beauty in general is right up my alley! Not into the pop culture thing so much, but I'll try to follow as best I can (we got rid of TV a few years ago! Well, I should say cable - we watch dvds).

A girls night in is a wonderful thing... I need to do that myself very soon!

I really appreciate the reply! I think it helped me even just to post the stuff and get it out there, a little bit of self-confession to get the blog going, and I plan to expand on the whole topic over time...still figuring out how this blogging thing goes myself, in fact I'm having trouble updating my Profile, but it may be cuz I'm on a Mac and need to use a different browser, something like that, but I'll figure it out.

I will also try to check out what you posted for sure! I think the topic of boundaries is huge, for all people but maybe esp. women. And I know I will write that damn book, eventually, and really appreciate the encouragement - thanks again and take care,

Hello there

Sorry you have been frightened most of your life, I guess I was in a similar position my self. I would recommend writing a book. I have finished two now and am waiting to be published. It was the best thing I have ever done; it gave me incredible self confidence and a real sense of joy and achievement! Go for it!

I have put something up to read called I am still woman. Boundaries and body space. I am not yet sure how this site works so am not sure if you can see it?
