I hate housework

My dilemma is this, it always seems like there so much to do. I have to mop, dust, wash this and scrub that....I usually decide it's best if I just tackle one task. And that usually is all I tackle for weeks or months. And so my husband took it upon himself to help out and mopped our bedroom and living room floor. We have murphy's oil soap for the wood, which is supposed to be diluted in water. Of course he forgot to dilute it and just mopped with that and my feet stuck to the floor for days......

Xbox - Sportscenter - one in the same

Funny. Although in our home it is cable television. And like you I am ok if Sprots Center is doing an all day something about Johnny Unitas or it is John Wayne weekend marathon. I need my alone time. Even after 30 years. I need to be able to read or knit or surf or sit and stare at the clouds.

Been there, done that, and can enjoy the memories now. At the time... I didn't enjoy it much. Glitter is worse than projectile vomiting. I truly believe that.

I agree.....

I agree. I want to read things that make me feel human, not like the only screw up that can't potty train their kid. You want to know you're not the only one who struggles. But I also want to read the solutions. The success stories, so I also know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Stories of hope if you will.

I thought corn was a vegetable. LOL.....where have I been?? There's never enough sleep.....and I'm running out of blog ideas too....sigh......so I'm not laone. Thanks for the reminder.

One of my biggest fears

Taking a long car trip with my little ones is one of my biggest fears. Mostly because when my daughter was a baby and young toddler she screamed all the time in the car. She wouldn't even sleep, and I still carry that trauma to this day. Which is a shame, because there are a lot of places I would like to go which are just about the right distance to be reached via a long drive.

These are great tips you've given here, I'm feeling inspired. Maybe this summer I'll work up the courage to give a car trip a try. ;-)

Great ideas!

We travel a lot with our two kids, both under 5. I have found that pulling out a new toy every so often REALLY works. In addition, we go out to the dollar store or Target and pick up a few new toys or items, cheap things like a dollar coloring book, some markers, etc, and hand them out in between older toys. We did this on flights when we lived cross country from family.

We also stop at a play area for lunch if we are taking an all day trip. The kids get out and run around, we eat and relax for a while, then pile back in for the afternoon - the youngest sleeps during this time, and I usually give the oldest a special treat, like a lollipop, that she doesn't usually get at home.

Thanks for the post!

I hated writing at school, so writing never came up as something I would do.

But I too am an observer and from my observing I am left with questions and my questions want to go somewhere and thus I write on a blog.
To explain what I have observed, to vent my questions and to draw people into my observations and with the hope that this will lead to us doing things differently.

I never saw that as writing, until it was pointed out to me that is what I do all day.
Now I observe and question "Am I a writer?"

I probably am and of course everybody does it better than me.
I do observe that in myself and I have plenty of questions about that as well :)

Translating life

I agree about your translating perception; in fact my slogan on my blog is 'transcribing life's stories as it dictates them.'

I compose sentences on a regular basis. I also think that the reason 'crazy' thing happen to me is so that I can retell them.

We are writers because we can't not be.

Thinking about writing

I love your reflection that you are a writer because you are a thinker. For me, I guess i know that I am a writer because it is always the thing that draws me. I am always composing phrases in my head and thinking about my life not only as the thing that is lived, but as the thing that can be translated and transferred via words to others.
