The Bachelor Sofa

I recently forced my new hubby to get rid of his bachelor couch. It was a difficult purge for him. Still, I hated that couch and all of its previous indiscretions. We have been married for four days now and I am not sure how well we will negotiate the transition, or if he will wax sentimental over his lost furniture.

Question

I'm curious how an unvaccinated child poses risk to a vaccinated child...

If the vaccine is meant to protect a person from exposure to that particular disease, then shouldn't it protect them from getting a disease that they have been exposed to?

I totally understand that the anti-vaccine sites can seem wacky. I think that they come off that way because people get so frustrated with the system.

Why is the government so invested in parents having their children vaccinated when it's private industry profiting from the sale of the vaccine? Why are the pharmaceutical companies protected from liability from the government? See where the slippery slope begins?

I would suggest that you research the heck out of vaccines, chemicals in the environment, hormone disrupters and chemicals in our food supply and think about how these things might work synergistically to cause harm in certain people.

Understand the argument from all sides, read, debate, question and then whatever decision you come to you will know that regardless of what happens you did everything you could to educate yourself about the decision.

Congrats and Good Luck!

Definitely Vaccinate

First of all, I am on my way to having my first baby. I will definitely have her vaccinated. Not just for her protection but for others also. Once a child gets measles, they do not show symptoms for days. During that time they can infect other children who have not been vaccincated yet. I feel it's been tested and proven. Not having them vaccinated is a gamble I'm not willing to take.

Now I remember why I had a baby!!!!!!

Yep, I remember now. Thanks for reminding me of what I was missing out on before. Bah!! Who needs a 20min shower everyday? I mean really....every day? not to mention going places and only having to worry about my keys and wallet. I get much more exercise carrying a 21lb person and his 21lb diaper bag. Ladies w/o babies - you don't know what you're missing.......Hilarious. I loved it.

I recently taught my son how

I recently taught my son how to drink form a sippy cup and boy, was it a mess! Mealtime has become one of my favorite parts of the day because of all the adorable faces my son makes. He uses this time to mimic me and my manorisms. I tilt my head to one side as I am feeding him. He will not do this at the same time, but later so I can truly observe how cute he is.

This was an adorable story & I look forward to my son sharing in a similar moment.

Your experience is not what

Your experience is not what I've seen, heard, or been apart of. I'm now grandmother age; though not yet a grandmother. I've expereinced mothers who do not plan their travel time around nap, bring nothing to entertain the baby/child and really don't seem to understand how their sweet little one has everyone on the plane wanting a stiff drink because they have a headache; or irritated because they couldn't work for the noise. Or...the mothers that change a dirty diaper on their lap when seating in the middle seat and really think thats ok. It's not. I am a mother, I love children; but adults to have the right of peaceful, restful, or work filled travel.

I would say you're very lucky, and also very tuned into what works for your child, and put that need above conveniant of time travel for yourself or getting a cheaper ticket come hell or high water.

I hope your husband loosens up a bit with allowing others to babysit. Children need to be exposed to people who are non family. Sometimes, they do better with others in fact.

Interesting read

traveling with babies/toddlers

My son was a big baby, so even for his first plane flight at 9 months, we had to have a seat for him. Which turned out to be a blessing, because we learned that he had the same reaction to the car seat on the plane as he did in the car -- he nearly always fell asleep immediately.

That worked until; about 2.5 or 3. That's when we got the portable DVD player, which was our constant travel companion until he was in elementary school. Now we still bring it occasionally, but he's just as happy with his Nintendo DS and a few magazines.

It's easy to solve this for future posts. Just click the words input format, right below the box where you enter text and select FULL HTML. That will allow the video to work. :-)
