Kyra Sedgwick is like Glenn Close as Patty Hewes in "Damages." You can't really see anyone else in the role once you've seen her in it.

Good balance

I like that there is a balance between the cop drama and solving crimes part of the show and the personal lives of the characters. Some other shows don't get that recipe right for me like In Plain Sight. Love the show, Kyra Sedgwick is fantastic and all the supporting characters/actors are as well. Really a satisfying show.

And thanks for the link to the Pass The Remote coverage - quite interesting.

because Kyra Sedgwick does a great job carrying the show. I'm also excited that Holly Hunter is returning in Saving Grace. That show is even more gritty and her character more complex than The Closer. Holly Hunter is simply astonishing in this role.

I can however understand nurses being upset with the image of the hotsy, totsy nurse in skimpy outfits that TV and movies have been so fond of.

Although I totally understand why nurses might be upset at some of the ways that nurses are portrayed in this show, inaccuracy or negative stereotyping could be an issue with pretty much every profession that becomes the topic of a television show or movie.

I've had to suspend disbelief and annoyance to watch some shows whose subject matter I'm very familiar with in real life. But if the acting and storylines are strong enough, I can deal with it. If the show isn't entertaining, though, that's a whole different story.

Great To Hear From Someone Who Knows

What, you mean you nurses aren't having hot and heavy sex all over the hospital!?

Of course there's always going to be a level of dramatic license, but it's always great to hear from someone in the trenches who knows what really goes on.

Next up, the TNT show "HawthoRNe," about another nurse, played by Jada Pinkett. It premieres June 16th. I should have that review up in the next couple of weeks.

Megan, thanks for the pilot for 'Nurse Jackie' I hadn't seen it earlier before my comment. I think I'd find it more believable if I wasn't in the thick of nursing...It's just not true to form. Nurses usually take orders from Doctors, not give them, although a strong suggestion goes over quite well when treating patients & Trauma to the head automatically calls for skull xrays and the drugs, if a nurse was getting high in order to function...believe me other nurses can tell... the signs are always there hovering just beneath the surface and falsifying documents (signing donor card) a big no, no.

Oh yea, SEX while on duty, who has the time! anyhow just a few holes! I suppose I'd like watching the show, but I'm knowing my nurse radar will kick in and I won't be able to ignore it!

She should probably talk to David Caruso and Jennifer Aniston. She bypassed the timing of David Caruso's crazy departure from "NYPD Blue," but I think she's going to have to come to the realization that like Aniston, she's a TV actress, not a movie star.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
