Great to see people considering alternate diets...

It is great to see that more and more people are trying out vegetarian meals, or at some times even vegan meals. I became vegetarian over 7 years ago to support my husband's decision to stop eating meat for ethical reasons. Who knew there would be so many health benefits also. We recently decided to take on a full vegan diet, eliminating dairy and eggs from our diets also. We both feel great and are happy about our decision. If you're looking for some recipes to try out, I started to post some online for friends and family that are always asking about what I'm eating: www.vegcanucks.com

One more good reason ...

... to give up television! Who knew that a good guy like Bill Cosby could ruin something as homey as pudding?! ;-)

Alanna Kellogg Kitchen Parade & A Veggie Venture

Luke Warm Memories

The first thing I ever made was tapioca pudding. Scratch that. The first thing I ever made well, actually. The microwaved sprinkles, flour, and vanilla extract cake did not come out well.

There is this weird complex I have with pudding. On some level it seems so nostalgic and soul filling; on the other, I can only think of Bill Cosby hawking an industrial powder mix that could only be wholesome on a contrived, feel good sitcom.

People go crazy over Magnolia Bakery's Banana Pudding that will give some serious gut rot.

http://www.thecluelesscrafter.com/

I didn't grow up with banana pudding ...

... so its appeal is a little lost on me. I am completely lost why it seems to have a permanent place in salad bars. Hmm, could you skip the vanilla wafers and maybe go with chunks of gingersnaps, say??? Now THAT sounds good!

Alanna Kellogg Kitchen Parade & A Veggie Venture

I'm seeing pudding all over the place lately

I'm just going to hide the banana pudding recipes from the fake husband until I find vanilla wafers. They aren't as common here and if I tell him I've found good banana pudding recipes he won't shut up until I make it. He has a bit of a banana obsession (unfortunately for me, I'm not fond of bananas).

Sassymonkey and Sassymonkey Reads.

I've been lusting for pound cake ever since writing that post, in fact, thanks to your reminder, it's a good thing I'm out of butter or I'd be heating the oven even now!

Alanna Kellogg Kitchen Parade & A Veggie Venture

Well, I'm rather fond of the Canadian/Estonian apple cake :) But I also love tarte tatin and apple strudle.

I blog about food over at Nami-nami

Oh goodness - I'm only supposed to make one apple cake a week!

Hi Alanna,

Thank you so much for the mention here and for the collection of wonderful posts about one of my favorite types of cake. It looks like I've got at least nine other apple cakes to try throughout apple season, and yet I was making a valiant attempt to bake but one a week. A girl has to show some restraint, after all! Ahhh, heck, maybe I'll up it to a two-cake-per-week limit. Seems only right!

Take care,

Amy

Poor Girl Gourmet

Got a kilo of figs while they are around

I loooove figs! I had been waiting for them to show up..they seemed to be a bit late this year on the grocery store. But the other day when I saw them at the farmer's market..I was almost waiting to pounce upon these babies..Picked up a kilo, and went home nibbling on them :). Of course I washed them first ;p
