Theme Parties

I think theme parties are awesome for kids. In my experience, theme parties were always the most fun. I never liked large parties myself. At my birthday, I really only want the people closest to me there. This is how I've celbrated my son's birthday's too. He has 6 first cousins all around his age which keep him busy enough. If any of my sons ever ask for more, it would be up to them since it is there birthday. As long as it doesn't blow my budget of course, which is way below the $10,000.

Smaller is Better

We've been to both large, grandiose parties as well as smaller, intimate parties and I like the smaller parties better. I've held these for my daughter, too. I find I can be much more creative and really do something unique. This year she is having a fairy party. We are finding the lost flower fairies to summer can come - and as we do so, we are turning the other four and five year old girls (12 ina ll) into fairies. Having only this number I was able to make the invitations, get some really neat craft items to do at the party, and really spend some time planning something unique that I hope she'll remember! Love your tips, thanks!

hi A.A

I know - I'm being a heavyweight write-something-for-the-hell-of-it kind of person... I wouldn't be offended either; pirates and kids go together like gummy sweets and e-numbers, and I wouldn't deprive my son of holding a pirate party or attending one. I just thought it was interesting, though, how some things are romanticised - and probably a good thing, too, or we'll all be paralysed by PC-ness. THanks for reading and commenting.

Humourous take on a serious

Humourous take on a serious subject. I can see your point about not having a Charles Manson shindig and the likes, but I would still have a pirate party. I don't think any parents would be upset by the idea even with the current events surrounding piracy.
