I adored Rubyfruit Jungle and liked nearly all the books BEFORE the Sneaky Pie books. I read a couple of them but they just didn't do it for me. I also didn't love her horse and hound books.

Oh my god, no kidding. My kitty Arya and I bonded completely when she broke her leg last year. I was the only comfort she had, snuggling and kissing her and crying because I couldn't explain the pain or the big lampshade around her head or the itchy staples in her leg or why she had to live in a cage for a month. We named her Miss Hobble Bobble after she was allowed to walk around outside the cage for a bit. Here's a video. I realize this has nothing to do with dog cancer, but it does have to do with comforting a sick animal.

I'm still rolling this post around in my head and realize now, it could really be a book. My main confusion comes when I realize that every person I communicated with that profess belief in the Rapture (three in total), had the same initial reaction to the post-Rapture pet care: "What a crock! That's not fair to prey on gullible people like that!"

I don't get it. If you believe in the Rapture and you love your pet and don't believe they are going with you then, yes, there's some ice in your aorta.

Rep McCotter's proposal is for this to be a *deduction*, not a *credit* like the child tax credit. That was my thought exactly when I first heard that story. I so want that job. Except I doubt I'd actually get to do the job, not believing in the rapture and all.

I was disturbed by some things your friend said, especially this:

Um, yes. It does sound cold-hearted. And it doesn't sound very Christian either. Where is the compassion? How can someone who professes to love their pet not care what happens to it when it's left along to fend for itself? This statement does not parse.

My dog past away two years ago but there was no doubt in my mind that if anything happened to her that required mouth to snout I would be there. Pet safety and emergency medical is so important. Thanks for the post, loved the tortoise and the basic CPR instruction.

iPhone app on animal first-aid

I downloaded an app for my iPhone where I can fill in all my pooches stats - in case of emergency and such, I've got all her normals/allergies/injuries/etc - plus, it has a plethora of various scenarios in which to help a pet. From CPR to spider bites, to burns and cuts/abrasions..just about any abnormal situation you can imagine, it tells you how to fix it. Some, like the CPR, even have videos you can watch.. it's only $1.99...but I would have gladly paid more since I know that I always have access to whatever may ail my beloved fur baby.
