I am continuallly humbled by how much I want to pour effort into deepening online relationships beyond the tweets and retweets or the comments on the blog. And yet, I'm knowing full well this stems from what I've seen and felt tangibly happens when you refuse to settle for surface with people in your life/day to day in person walk.

Opportunities to be genuine abound when self interest and ego take a major backseat if even get an opp. to drive in the car at all :)

Grateful to know 'of you' now and your blog...Here's to growing that bond.

:)

Thanks again so much.

Thanks for this wonderful post that combines story, vulnerability and life lessons. I especially appreciate your reflections on how the relationships in your life, whether with strangers or family or friends, make a difference--for you and for others. Bravo!

Thanks Denise...

It's a topic I don't think we can think/talk up enough....There's this constant huggabaloo about using social media to build relationships.and yeah, very important..but at the end of the day if the ONLY agenda is sell my product we've missed a lot of learning/building in the process.

i'm predicting a wave of use of social media just for personal self interest...and then that will fade...and tis why communities like BlogHer to me matter sooo much..yeah, there's advertising...but not for the sell that product emphasis....

Or am I missing something? Was I supposed to become a Barbie fan through and through to keep blogging here? :) HA!

There's so much more I could (and hope to ) write about to say how much YOU do to keep the authenticity of 'relating' going on between BlogHers.

Have fun tonight....(err...take ear plugs and a book too?) :)

Now I'm going to be thinking this all night when I should be listening to high schoolers playing instruments. (Yes, high school band concert tonight...)

Color me Grey

Authenticity for me is about catching a glance of yourself in the mirror and not being surprised by what you see. You want what you see on the outside to reflect who you believe you are on the inside. Your hair, make-up and clothes shouldn't be a disguise with which you try to fool yourself or other people. Of course, make the best of your appearance, but make the best of your inner assets first.
