Let me put it to you this way, most Americans would be offended if the comparison was...

"That would be like a 9-11 family voting for Saddam." To me that is just shows poor taste. I made no relation to any political cause per-say I questioned the posters true intent with such a comparison- which to me showed poor taste.

I am having a hard time following your point. What does "tragedies are not comparassioins mean"? Are you saying that we should not compare trageides? Why not? Both aborted babies and Jews in the Holocaust are victims of the same thing; taking the life of an innocent human being. I totally disagree with you when you say comparing the two kinds of death is in poor taste. What Hitler did to the Jews was horrible, what we as women do to our own babies is no less horrible.

As I already explained to you, my bad; I wanted to make sure you read my post so I linked to your link that you provide at the end of your posts. I had no idea it would upset or offend you or that it was not a private message sent to your blog. My mind assumed that the link was there to use, so I did, I wont make that mistake again.

I am more then happy to address you her. And moonbeam for the record, and you will find all the bloggers will say- you leave your comments her on blogher, you don't take it to people's personal blogs. No matter how public they might be to there world they are our space. Like many blogger I write for different sites- and Lilmommy is my writing home. ALL issues brought up here on Blogher stays at Blogher.

Tragedies are not comparassions, to do so is to downgrade the feelings and emotions those who have lost felt. Using the Holocust as a comparassion- for whatever reason is in poor taste- And that is my opinion- I stated such and now I am done!

My comment: First, I think she was trying to make a point that what Ashley said is as dumb as, ” a Christian American voting for Obama, is like jews voting for Hitler!” I don’t think she was comparing Obama to Hitler…..but I will…..

A Christian voting for Obama IS the same as a Jew voting for Hitler! I absolutely make this comparison…..Hitler killed millions of Jews, Obama fights for and supports the killing of millions of babies! Not a far streach at all when you think about it. All of those out there that want to say “I am pro-choice” should call a spade a spade…..and quit sugar coating it….if you think a woman has a right to end the life of her baby at any point for any reason, you are pro death of an innocent human being. So call it what it is….pro DEATH…..sounds like a ideology Hitler could get behind!

“compassion to those less fortunate” REALLY!? I defy you to list anyone who needs more compassion or is less fortunate than the aborted baby!!!! Goodness, as a Christian, it completely stumps me that this even has to be pointed out!

CanCan and Carol -- you hit the nail on the head. These celebs aren't experts on anything - many of them aren't even experts in their own fields! That is exactly why I have a problem with them saying the things they do on a very public platform. Thankfully, all the stupid remarks that everyday people make aren't made as public.

In our country many people look at them like royalty and hang on every word they say and believe them.

Our constitution affords them the right to use their public platform to promote who they are voting for. Name calling and demeaning others is also their right, but maybe they should try thinking before actually speaking sometimes - it might be to their benefit.

I would have to say that she said in order to call attention to the issue at hand. If she had politley said, "Well, I don't believe that the McCain/Palin ticket stand behind women's issues" it would have not received any press at all.

Now look at us, we are having a lively discussion around and maybe someone who didn't really look closely at the issues before now has taken a moment to do and will be making up their own minds over who to vote for :)

Exactly...I don't put stock in what any celebrity says about ANYTHING. None of them are "experts" on politics, economics, ecology...they are ACTORS and SINGERS. Why do people get up in arms about the idiotic things they say?

Everyday people also make stupid remarks, way worse than this, but since they are not famous it doesn't bother anyone.

Do you really not know that Obama is Christian? Why would you say a thing like that?

And yes, women really should listen up and pay attention to what these tickets are about. I agree with most of the posters here in that I am insulted by McCain's choice and that I would not vote for someone who is such a "maverick" that they are into deregulating everything from healthcare to the financial industry, but would instead impose regulations on what I and/or other women can do with our own bodies.

And yes, here is to free speech, compliments of my family members, friends and co-workers all around the world. The republicans of america are not the only ones who fight for our country. And honestly, it is the democratic side which more frequently stands up for free speech so we can express our views on these forums.

Ashley Judd is a woman, an american and a voter. She is allowed and encouraged to express her opinion just as we all do here.

I wont jump into the political part of this discussion, however, I just want to say that I watched Ashley Judd lay down in a HIV infected child prostitute's bed in Africa and she was visibly affected. I find the anger you express about Judd personally to be suprising. But to each her own.

Ashley Judd is a self-absorbed, self-involved, self-indulgent blowhard. If you scroll through the 70+ posts about her at www.themockdock.com under the I Hate Ashley Judd category, you'll start to get a real feel for how obnoxious and self-serving she is. Make sure to read about her first trip to Africa from the perspective of someone who accompanied her. Make sure to read about her quotes in Allure magazine about the HORROR of sitting with common people at a party. She's a BEAST.

She's also dead wrong on this, and IS insulting to women.

I actually happen to agree with Ashley Judd, but I think it is extremely unfortunate that she chose to express her opinion in such an abrasive manner. If you're being seen in the spotlight as a celebrity, why would you alienate/infuriate people with poor phrasing instead of picking words that would either simply allow people to sit back and respect your opinion, or maybe even think a little bit on what you've said?
