Hey kate, noting wrong with that. Good use of our time and good example after all those political slinging matches.

That is action; leave the world better

Hi Kate

I saw your comment on my comment on American Dream.

I wanted to say, thanks for your obvious connection with what I wrote and I came here to see who you are.
I love what you say here too.
If we don't start with ourselves doing small things in our direct environment, we won't make a difference at all.

That is where we take power and responsibility, and in the process we make our own and other people's lives as best as we can.

Have a great Christmas,

Hello Lovers! Uh, I actually have tried most of those products. And, I do lock mself away for hours testing for reviews. Not much of a social life but one heck of a sex life! Great choices BTW! Please support an introvert and check out my blog to read some of my reviews.

Great Ideas!

These are all lovely ideas. For some of my sweet soulsisters I'm making matchbox shrines. I can recycle tins and boxes I've been gathering all year, and use my stash of art supplies to make meaningful prettties. Each one will have a tiny blessing rolled up inside.

Crafting as Therapy

This is what got me into crafting. It gave me an outlet when I was younger and in a better financial place (no kiddo's or hubby to feed back then-lol). Now it's morphed into financial therapy. Especially with the holidays upon us, I feel like I have more financial control when I craft. Less money spent on gifts=More money in our bank account!

I'm planning on tea and coffee themed gifts utilizing free samples and Goodwill tea & coffee cups. A chocolate peppermint dipped biscotti with a recipe card will make a great gift for our neighbors. Also, I'm making some scented gel air fresheners, reed diffusers, etc with essential oils and jar gifts galore. I only wish I had a sewing machine-mine didn't survive our last move (bummer)!

Practical is Good

Oh, I love the idea of putting your soul into gift-making. And thank you for the practical ideas. Last year, my kids and I made spiced instant coffee mix and lavender milk bath for gifts.

Beautifully put, as usual!

There was a lovely article in this month's Wondertime magazine about the "$100 holiday" - have you read that book? It always amazes me how the simplest gifts made with love are the ones that are most treasured.

The phrase "working mother" is redundant.

Great Ideas and Cloth Gift Bags

Love your inspiring ideas! You are very diligent about requesting no plastic wrap when ordering online. You have inspired me to work harder at that. I order from eco-friendly companies, but they still pack in plastic sometimes and non-recycled boxes etc....
My GreenMoms group is having our annual gift bag making party tomorrow night and it is such a fun event. There are about 10 of us that iron, match ribbon and sew. We have a potluck and this year we have cut about 180 bags. That's 18 bags each! We get all our fabric, ribbon, and thread from freecycle or friends and family who have fabric they won't use.
Here is a link to how to make gift bags. It is really easy:
I love these tips, Beth. I'd

I love these tips, Beth. I'd never thought of requesting no plastic or styrofoam when ordering something, but it certainly seems like a reasonable request.

As for wrapping gifts this year, I think we are going to focus on using some of the many play silks we have around here and I might pick up a few more too (the kids love them anyway) to make sure we have enough.
