I Would Be Everywhere - I Just Sucked It Up

I use to have thousands of bookmarks. I've lost thousand of them too. I'd camp out at sites and just fed off the goodness. There are so many more talented people than crum bums. I was on library computer text based browers and I still loved it.

And the flame wars I've witness? Cheeze, it was just bad. I don't miss that because I learned to stay out of heated zones but mercy, it was rough.

I try to make time just to cruise but it is harder; so many more places to visit and spam to avoid.

Gena - Out On The Stoop

I like whimsy

I was just thinking the other day about how I rarely I actually truly surf the internet these days. Sometimes I look back ten years and wonder what the heck I did online. Then I remember, I played on message boards and in chat rooms. I really haven't changed much. lol

And I really love the librarian trading cards!

Sassymonkey and Sassymonkey Reads.

Food, Gift Certificates and no Gifts At All

Hi Kelly, Sara and Lucinda,

Thanks for all of your alternative gift ideas!

As someone who likes to cook I am particularly attraced to your idea, Lucinda. I've given bags of homemade granola as gifts before and people seem to appreciate it.

We often give the gift of food.

My husband is a fishing guide so we get our share of salmon. We have given away fresh, frozen or canned salmon depending upon the time of year. Or berries from the garden, cookies we have made, jam we have canned. Anything like that and it is always appreciated because it's something that person may not usually get.

Gift Certificates

My husband and I both like recieving gift certificates as presents. I know they sometimes get a bad reputation, because some people believe that it means you don't know the persons likes and dislikes well enough to pick out something specific. But to us, a gift certificaye is something we can use on what we want when we want, which is nice when we have a bunch of presents to enjoy at one time and could really use something we can save for later. For keeping the amount of stuff in the house down, iTunes gift certificates and gift certificates to restaurants we like are great. If we know the person giving the gift also likes that restaurant, we're usually happy to bring them along when we go to spend it.

I'm happy with any kind of gift that shows the giver is really thinking of me. For my last birthday, my parents gave me a DNA test for our beloved mixed breed dog and my music junkie dad gave me a personalized mix CD. Neither takes up much room, but both made me very happy.

No gifts!

My friends and I don't give each other birthday gifts. We're grownups, we have everything we need - there's really no need for gifts. We do take each other out for a nice dinner.

I'm a Recovering Perfectionist

Yes, perfection has always been a goal of mine, but unlike Amber, I start tons of stuff! Of course they never get finished because they're not "perfect" :-)

I'm doing much better these days, though. My new mantra is "Good enough".

Important post!

I once interviewed Toni Morrison and she said that every time she did an appearance and read from her nnovel, she was re-writing. (This was before she won the Nobel Prize for Literature.) I couldn't believe that she, whose novels were so fantastically written, felt that.

I have seen people use the quest for perfection to be judgmental of others and as a stalling tactic to completion. I strive to do the best I can and then to let go and move on to the next thing.

I have one friend who agonizes over decisions. She's an event planner who really believes there is a perfect shade of green and will go to ten places trying to find it which drives her crazy and means she's always pulling over-nighters when she could have settled on a perfectly lovely green.

She'll learn, hopefully.

I am a perfectionist

This spoke to me. I am absolutely a perfectionist. And in my case it means I don't start things. Once I start I finish because I must, anything less would be failure. So instead I waffle and drag my feet and don't even try, because not trying is better than trying and not being perfect.

Thank you so much for the resources. I think they will come in handy for me.
