Respect isn't a given.

I realize this is incredibly outdated, but the first thing that struck me is that most comments are from women saying more or less what you'd expect about women getting screwed in a man's world (I don't meant that as offensive, just to summarize generally what I've read). There is a very basic thing here that nobody ever seems to pick up on Palin. People only paint her as a victim because she is a woman. If everything else stayed the same, but she were just a man instead, favourable opinion of her would be even LOWER. Call it sexist, call it biology, but men resect pretty women more.

But men also understand that respect is earned, not a given. There is the basic repect for fellow Man (as in human, not just men) but when someone has power who shouldn't and is making a move for more power, they will be torn down. Women have this assumption that men just tear down women because their women. False. Men are even more vicious to other men. Only growing up, men have become accustomed to it. Girls, on the other hand, who are considered sacred are sheltered from criticism growing up and are unprepared for it.

Basic fact about Palin, I find her annoying with that constant goofy smile, her annoying accent, constant reference to herself as a "Maverick" and acting like she's some revolutionary changing the political world. But listen to ANY interview with her. She can't answer simple questions and ANY criticism of her that is read back to her is the fault of the person commenting on her. She attempts to discredit the person to discredit the argument.

It isn't about her being a woman in a man's world (that whole idea makes me want to vomit, how bad women have it. but sorry, thats for another day.) its about her being an idiot in a world that needs better. Hilary isn't better because she's a liberal, but because she's intelligent and articulate.

When I read that Obama considered Summers for the position, I made many faces and wondered if maybe this was a good topic for me to write about, too. If Summers was the best candidate to pull us out of this horrific economic mess, should we overlook his atrocious record on women and people of color? Out of curiosity, I asked my husband (who is a finance professional) what he thought.

First he made a sour face. "Larry Summer is a terrible manager and he'll never get the job. He'll wind up as the head of the Federal Reserve of New York." He then ranted about what a bad job Summers did when he served the Clinton administration, noting that Robert Rubin had to "babysit" him.

So it didn't really answer my initial question, since he's not the best qualified person to help us with the economy. I'm assuming he isn't going to get the job.

Hillary and Sarah Palin... It occurs to me that *this campaign*, Hillary has been brilliant despite her husband, and according to McCain in the debate, Palin partially because of her spouse.

I also thought the debate was pretty lopsided and will hopefully lead the Democrats into a landslide win this November.

I agree that the Obama side and supporters are the ones using the racism card.

James Carville, on Anderson Cooper, said if Obama doesn't win, things will be "very,very,very, dramatic," hinting at riots. How racist is THAT- implying that blacks will riot if Obama doesn't win. Nothing is said about that being racist, yet when John McCain used the term "that one" in the debate, that was racist.

My grandmother uses that term, and so does my aunt who is 40- they use it when pointing out someone, usually a kid, but never towards an African-American. I never knew that term was racist, and seems like only the Dem.'s are trying to bring racism into the picture, every time they can. I doubt anyone running for the highest office in the land would be so ignorant to label their opponent by a racist term. It is just grasping at straws.

Yes, the Palin interview WAS heavily and incredulously edited, seemingly to make Gov. Palin seem the idiot, which she is NOT. I read the entire transcript and I knw that she came off in the televised interview MUCH differently than how the interview (and her answers) went. It was wrong of CHarlie to do that! Of course, as far as how the MSM has behaved this year, it was sadly par for the course.

Sarah Palin is the most popular governor in ANY and ALL of these United States; why else would John McCain pick her? Well, there's her obvious strength, for one rationale.. I do not agree with ALL of Sarah Palin's 'feelings' or beliefs, but I do agree with her regarding the way she has done her job and how she has run Alaska. At least Palin seems to believe in CONSTITUTIONAL LAW.., meaning she does follow it~ Anyone who says differently has not done his or her homework on Sarah Palin. Of course, that seems to be a huge problem this year; people believing every little blurb rather than looking it up.

By the way; yes, I am a woman and I am an INDEPENDENT voter who will be voting McCain and Palin this year! --Never did think I would vote for the Republican, but I also never thought that Rep would be McCain, a man I truly do respect.
